"Duchy" is misspelled in the opening intro. What a great and hilarious story though! You could not make this up if you tried.

Compulsory Horrible Histories quotes coming now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw5Ns2XlmPw&list=PLmZEaAkY-HiXGNCzQbdVJVjeIKAxCqCio&index=3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSV3q9HX6gE&list=PLmZEaAkY-HiXGNCzQbdVJVjeIKAxCqCio&index=47 Play the first during the Extra Credits jingle and the second after Matt's paid promotion before the credits. Also you pronounced Louis's name wrong ~ the correct pronounciation is Lou ~ EE; Lou ~ iss is an anglicised version of the name.

gotta pity the poor gong-farmer who got stuck hauling crap-corpses out of that pit..... Love the episode - super animations and Matt's narration is awesome as always!

Mainz is pronounced more like "MINE-tz", less like "MAIN-tz". For someone who speaks German, hearing that one get mangled like 6 times in 2 minutes, as the bishop was getting introduced, that was like taking trips to nails-on-a-chalkboard land over and over.

And "w"s in German are pronounced like "v"s in English. So Wartburg would be pronounced as if it were spelled Vartburg in in English, and likewise Schwartzburg would be pronounced like "Schvartsburg".

(There were a few other pronunciation mis-steps, but they were ones any American speaker would make. Like "ch" in Kirchburg is a sound we don't have in English: that throat-clearing sound, like in Bach's name.)

Hang on, what about the gong-farmer who was squatting on his toilet at home when the floor collapsed and he fell through the floor and drowned in his own gong?

Here's as much as I have on Baaaa ~ barossa; I think this time it's ACTUAL history as opposed to alternate! 1184 20th May In the Kingdom of Denmark, Holy Roman Emperor Frederick “Barbarossa” Demands that King Cnut IV of Denmark Recognise him as his Feudal Overlord. Cnut IV Refuses, however, and soon after, Pomerania Invades Denmark. The Invasion is Defeated, however. 1185 In the Kingdom of Denmark, King Cnut VI of Marries Gertrude of Saxony, the Daughter of Duke Bugislaw of Pomerania, Pulling Pomerania out of the Holy Roman Sphere of Influence forever. 1187 20th October In the Papal Kingdom, Pope-King Johannes XV Passes away from Shock and Grief after Archbishop Joscius of Tyre Informs him of the Recapture of the City of Jerusalem by Egyptian Armies Lead by Pharaoh Ramesses XXII. He will be Remembered by Future Historians largely for his Quarrels with Frederick I “Barbarossa,” Including the long standing Dispute over the Disposal of the of Duchess Matilda of Tuscany, and Refusing to Crown Barbarossa’s Son, Frederick of Swabia, as Caesar of Rome. He will also be Remembered for bringing about a Two Year Truce between and France in the War, Threatening King of and King Charles IV of France with Excommunication near Châteauroux, Preventing a Pitched Battle between the Rival Kings’ Armies. 1189 11th May In the Holy Roman Empire, Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I “Barbarossa” Departs from Regensburg, Bavaria, at the Head of an Enormous Army [150,000 Men and 4,000 Knights] for the Holy Land. To Ensure his Lands are Safe while he is away, Frederick leaves his Son, Prince Henry, in Charge of the Country. 1190 10th June In the Principality of Lesser Armenia, Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I “Barbarossa” Drowns in the River Göksu while Washing himself near Silifke Castle. He will be Remembered by Future Historians as the Greatest Medieval Holy Roman Emperors, Combining Qualities that made him Appear almost Superhuman to his Contemporaries: his long Life, his Ambition, his Extraordinary Skills at Organisation, his Battlefield Acumen, and his Perspicacity. His Contribution to Central European will Include the Re ~ Establishment of the Corpus Juris Civilis, or the Roman Rule of Law after the Decline of Influence Following the Great Schism. German Legends will Speak of Frederick and his Knights Sleeping inside a Cave inside the Kyffhäuser Mountains in Thuringia and that when the Ravens Cease to Fly around the Mountain, he will Awaken and Restore Germany to its Ancient Greatness.
