McDowell County, West Virginia. August 1st, 1921.

15 months after the Matewan Massacre, Sid Hatfield was gunned down in front of a courthouse. The Baldwin Felts agents had gotten their revenge and planted guns on the dead. The miner's anger boiled over and they'd finally had enough. They got their rifles and headed to Blair Mountain. Where Sheriff Chafin, Governor Morgan, Logan County officials, and Military Leader General Harry Bandholtz waited for their charge.

This is what happens when corporations put profit over their workers' lives. In reply to Veteran of The Mushroom Wars, The Deaf Mans Lands, and Aaron Neumann's comments, I am anti ~ Corporationalist and pro ~ Union, and regularly vote for left ~ wing candidates, however I am here for love of history, not get involved in political discussions.

Remind me to save these videos for next year for when anyone asks me about why Labor day is a thing.

this was a story I wish was covered in school..I mean bringing in airstrikes on American soil against American citizens is a situation we need to know about and be willing to prevent. In a similar vein, the Battle of Athens would be a good one to cover. another situation where democracy failed leaving the people with no choice but to fight.

I had never heard about this until Rob brought it up. I was shocked to hear military air strikes and gas were used. The episode straight made me sick to my stomach thinking about it but I'm really glad we were able to cover it and bring awareness.
