Hey all, I've been running some polls on social media, and I want to see how you guys, the patrons, feel about the current pacing of the DITF comic!(By pacing in this context i mean the actual physical update schedule, not story pacing)We want to provide you with a completely free to read story that all phighting fans can enjoy without purchase, though, this does mean we rely heavily upon Patreon to provide this project with the necessary funding it needs to pay for the amazing artwork our team and writers provide, though this leaves us in a bit of a situation where page updates feel too short and staggered and having the 1 month wait between updates can feel very long for such a small amount of content While we have reached a threshold where we are in the active process of hiring new artists i want to see what you guys think of the current scheduel VS a potential bimonthly (or longer) schedule where we would batch big story moments together that would lead to a more satisfying reading experience for all of you guys!It is very difficult to balance between keeping interest constant whilst providing a satisfying reading experience that doesn't feel stunted by the page count. Again, we heavily depend on the community to crowdfund projects like this, and I would really like to hear any thoughts or critiques you guys have about the reading experience, as we really do want to give you guys an awesome story to read in the Phighting universe

I'm actually gonna go against the popular opinion and say I'd prefer a bi-monthly schedule. The wait would be longer, sure, but I feel like ultimately bigger batches would do the story pace so much more justice. The quality of the comic would also make up for the longer waits. That's just my opinion though! 🙏

I personally liked the wait that we had for this months update, I want the story to progress and not exactly just focus on making it look good! with more time I think stuff could come out better if that makes sense

waveLycan

the monthly cliffhangers are exciting in my humble opinion :3

okay honest opinion monthly is MUCH better since phighting as a whole depends on the community and keeping that community alive by monthly updates is probably the best option right now. DITF has a looot of pacing problems, but all of them originate from the comic itself being meant to read altogether, so like ehhh the best you guys can do is just make sure that the story goes well with monthly updates in the future comics holy yap

arska

plus er it depends on like, what is the bi-monthly page count then

Fossyl_Fuelz

I think purely out of terms of better pacing for the comic, definitely bi-monthly, but I can completely understand why keeping the updates monthly is necessary. I personally don't mind either which way because I don't think there's truly going to be a way that'll perfectly satisfy everyone's wants for better pacing and keeping up audience retention. DITF aside I do very much like the addition of art requests & the skin polls on here so I don't think changing the updates to bi-monthly would impact too much (edit: in terms of keeping patrons subscribed) - I think as long as there's something keeping the patreon relatively active (like the skin polls & art requests that I mentioned earlier): either option should hopefully be fine.

I think in the long term bi-monthly would be better and there would be more to talk about for each update. I really don't think the community is gonna die if we don't get an update every month in fact I think it'd be healthier lol.

Monthly is as perfect as it can get, as it holds enough suspense and allows people to have something to wait for, and its 12 updates a year, which isnt bad. As for an additional idea, once you hire those 3 artists, you'll have more artists to provide more panels and pages, but if you want more panels and pages with ditf, id recommend hiring extra artists. While it is more of a financial situation/addition, and probably a lot of money, im sure that the extra artists are going to be worth it. It feels risky, and i completely understand why This is just my view, take this with a grain of salt

i like how it is rn ^^ even if it does change i could always wait. :)

ngl i don't think your comic has a "pacing" issue, it's just that your audience doesn't read webcomics. idk, as a guy who's read so many different ones for over a decade, the monthly updates read completely fine. Do people just not want the story to establish itself...? I think even if you *did* switch to bi-monthly, people would still complain, and then feel more "let down" because they waited even longer for a batch of pages that aren't action packed, or full of lore, or whatever thing they all want so much of. And then, even if the whole comic was made and posted in one go, you'd still probably get people complaining about the "lulls" in story. Not to mention, people would rush to finish it as quickly as possible to avoid spoilers, while others might not have the time to do that/wish to actually take their time with it, and then becoming a battlefield of spoilers, what's considered spoilers, and missed details from rushing... As is right now, the monthly updates are very digestable and nothing feels like "wasted time". Every little thing has felt important, and it's good to let a story breathe.
