In this 1,5 hour video tutorial I will talk you through the process of painting this scene with a waterfall. I used the block in brush to block in the colors at the beginning. I've added the brush to this post.

I have also added the color swatches, working file and reference photo.

Have fun creating your own scene!

The reference photo is a Shutterstock photo, feel free to use it for practice purposes (you just can't use it for commercial purposes like selling prints ;))

Just wonderful. Great human touch with your story. I am willing to bet that Claude Monet is rolling in his grave wishing he’d done that painting.

This might be a silly question Flo, but whenever I use the downloaded palettes, the colours on my iPad always seem so much darker than what they look like on my computer. Is there a setting in Procreate that I'm not aware of that I should change?

Art with Flo

It's not silly at all Maureen. Are you working on a canvas that is set to sRGB? It could be that you're working on a CMYK canvas. Or perhaps the color settings of your computer are just different from your iPad.

Hi Flo! I really like this tutorial and the picture as well! I'd like to make this ( or something similar to this ) as a wall picture for my grandma! First of all, I'd like to ask if you are okay with that? It is not commercial use, just a one time only print for a decoration. Secondly, do you have any recommandations what size, which colors ( cmyk, rgb ) should I use to get the best result on a printed image? Thanks in advance!

Art with Flo

Sure that's okay Márk, as long as it's for personal use. It's such a lovely idea to make that for your grandma! As for printing recommendations, usually you can find info about preferred color profiles on the website where you would like to print. Often businesses like that can give you advise about how to prepare your file. Good luck! And I'm looking forward to seeing your result

I think you've got it right with the colour on my monitor - I swapped it over to my second monitor and that's much more like my iPad. Thanks Flo - thought I was going mad!

I'm glad you were able to figure it out 😉

Light bulb moment - when I realised that my iPad was on about 40% brightness (for e-book reading) - makes a HUGE difference when you up the brightness for Procreate use!

I seem to be having trouble with downloading some of the palettes for procreate. What am I missing?

Art with Flo

Hi Esme, I'm so sorry, but finding and typing all of the color codes would take me over a day, I just can't manage that. A workaround is to make a screenshot of the color palette in the video and pick the colors like that.
