September in Review (Patreon)

It's time to look back again, since it's the end of the month again (time flies, doesn't it?). I want to thank you all for your wonderful support, especially during the beginning of the month, when I was suffering from my mouth infection. All of your message were really heartwarming. Due to the infection I was able to do less than I had planned unfortunately. I still haven't recovered 100%, but at least I'm able to work the way I was used to again  🤓 

After 2 years of Patreon, it's time to celebrate in the coming month. I'll talk about that at the end of this post. But first I wanted to let you know that the special offer for annual memberships will be extended because of our anniversary month. You can still get a 2 month discount if you switch to an annual membership before November 1st! So that means you'll be paying for 10 months, but you'll be getting 12 months  😉

Tutorials

Lagoon 

We started the month with the lagoon painting, using mostly chalkie brushes for a rough and impressionistic look. The level of this tutorial is beginner to intermediate.

Cute Halloween Illustration 

In this beginner video tutorial we created this cute Halloween illustration. I really enjoy creating these type of beginner videos and seeing all of the cute results afterwards.

Black and White Portrait Painting - Older Skin 

We ended this month with a full process video of this portrait painting. It's a remake from a drawing I did when I was 12! During the process I showed how you can start off with big and messy shapes and gradually work towards smaller shapes and more detail in your portrait. To finally finish with texured brushes to get that realistic skin effect.

Procreate 5X launched! 

Of course we can't forget about the Procreate 5X launch! The update brought some nice new features, like the filter brush option and reference window. If you haven't checked out all the new features yet, then you might like my overview video.

What's coming in October?

I think October is going to be a very exciting month! It's not just the anniversary of this Patreon page, but DesignCuts is celebrating their 7th birthday! As for the video tutorials that are coming in October, a video with scales is still in the making. The other ideas aren't set in stone yet, but I was thinking about something bling bling and perhaps something autumn themed. My head is often so full of ideas that I don't know where to start  🤪
