Here's  the new Pick a Ref video tutorial! Thank you all for submitting a reference image and voting in the monthly poll. Don't forget that you can send in one reference image every month through the special Discord channel. At the end of the month I'll make a new poll with the favorite photos from October (if your favorite wasn't picked last month, feel free to submit it again of course).

The original photo was made by Tim Rebkavetsand can be found here: https://unsplash.com/photos/B5PNmw5XSpk Please be sure to give credit to the photographer when sharing your work.

Canvas Size: 3000 x 4000

I hope you'll enjoy this video after waiting for it so long 😅 I sure enjoyed painting this castle. I think the level is about advanced. I used techniques that I've used in previous videos as well. Creating selections and filling those in with textured brushes. It creates nice crisp edges, which is create for architecture.

I have attached a color palette and my working file in case you want to take a closer look (or grab my sketch), I had to make it a little bit smaller than the original though, since it was too big to upload.

Remember you can find all brushes through the content page for Eager Learners and Master Students: https://www.patreon.com/posts/44839717

trying to paint this but I got lost in the process , you switched to screen recording.... oh boy, I am guessing the brushes, I dont even know what I am doing anymore :) wish me luck!!!!

Does anyone know what texture brushes she uses towards the end for the details?

I made this a long time ago, so I don't remember. But are you sure I don't mention it in the video?

Art with Flo

I see there's a part screen recording in there, I haven't cut anything out, so the brush should be there 🤔

Andrea carman

I see it, I must have skipped past but I checked through again, thank you :)

It looks amazing!

Nice! Was (and still am) excited for this one. Can't wait to dive into the video tonight or tomorrow!

It took me about an hour to get to minute 20. I had to pause a lot and rewind. I’m still not used to the pace. I’m so in awe of how you can make brush strokes suddenly look realistic. I did the magic bottle and cake and it doesn’t have the same realism you have. I like what I end up with but still need to work on that realism portion.

The speed comes with time and practice I think. It used to take me waaaaaay longer. Checking the Flo's Fundamentals and joining the montly assignments can help. Keep up the good work!
