I've been working on a brand new Skillshare class in the last weeks. It'll launch in the coming week and will be available for all Eager Learner and Master Student patrons. In this new class we will create a vector style portrait together. I hope you'll like it!

If you want to check out Skillshare, you can get a free month through this link. But of course you'll also be able to watch the class here through Patreon.

Don't forget to join our brand new Flocreate Community if you haven't already!

I keep seeing the word Vector, but, I’m not sure what it means, exactly, for procreate art. Can you explain?

Art with Flo

It's vector style, not real vector. Vector illustrations can be made in software like Illustrator, a vector is like a formula (I hope I'm explaining this correctly) for a shape or line. And since a vector illustration consists of these formulas, they can be scaled without getting pixelated. The style is often more crisp and less painterly, although vector programs have more and more options and possibilities these days.

Oh, I see. So, the finished artwork appears less pixelated? I gather that is a new technique for procreate program?

Art with Flo

No, I'm sorry if I suck at explaining it 😅 We are going for a vector 'style' portrait. Procreate is not a vector program, so we won't be creating vectors.

Legocitamakes

Not you. Me! Haha. I guess I understand that Vector is a less-pixelated technique(style ) that we can use in Procreate?

Legocitamakes

Thank you for answering the question. I can’t wait to see the tutorial. I’m sure I’ll understand better when I see it.

Art with Flo

No, only real vectors end up having no pixelation when resizing. So it's really just the style we are mimicking here, it has nothing to do with pixelation 😅

Breathtaking Vintage

Vector means no pixelation (because there are no pixels in it) at all because it is made from mathematic formulas that are essentially shapes. Photoshop does pixels. Illustrator does vector. The vector style idea is a very cool idea for photos.

Nice, Math comes handy after all!!! Haha. Thanks, can’t wait to see it and try it.

Yay! Any and all types of portraits and people drawings are my favorite. So excited for this!! 🤍

This was so much fun. Learned alot.

Thank you Becky, I'm happy to hear that 😃
