📌 Hey! Just a gentle heads up that this film has heavy themes of suicide, bullying, and deep emotional pain for those that may be also watching this for the first time. This didn't really feel like a movie to me. It felt like somebody gently holding all the tiny broken, quiet parts of my own heart and saying, "hey, I see you." Every frame was full of beautiful tenderness. The way the light moved through windows, the soft colors letting us breathe, even the way stillness had so much emotion in it. This was a beautiful anime movie inside and out. The little X's over people's faces wrecked me a bit. They were so powerful! They so accurately showed the way shame, fear, and isolation literally erase other people from your world. From Shoya's world. It was like watching someone drown in their own self-hatred, unable to really look anyone in the eye because they don't believe they deserve that kind of connection. When the X's finally fell way, it felt like watching healing through art. It was beautiful, relatable, and insanely moving. This movie was so honest about suicidal thoughts. How deeply lonely those thoughts can feel. I struggled with them myself growing up and watching Shoya carry that invisible weight felt so painfully familiar. The film never pretends that trauma just disappears. It shows that even after you begin healing, there are still dark days and slips. Still moments when your mind pulls you backward. But it also showed something just as real: You can always keep going anyway. You can still choose to reach for people. You can still choose to live.If anyone watching this ever feels like they're standing on the same edge, I want you to know this with everything in me: You are not broken for feeling that way. You are not alone in it. No amount of mistakes, no amount of shame, no matter how many painful chapters you go through. Nothing is worth losing your life over. Even if healing looks messy and hurts like heck. Even if some days are darker than others. Bright days always come back. Sometimes softly and slowly. Sometimes miraculously. But they do always come back and find their way to you again. And you deserve to be here when they do 🤍If you or someone you know is struggling, you are not alone!
