I'm back! Thank you all so much for your patience as I went through the most exhausting and horrible sickness of my life last week. It felt so good to jump back into Frieren again. This arc is already gearing up to be one of my all time favorites 🙀Somehow this story keeps widening its scope without ever losing its reflective, wholesome Frieren vibe. The writing and the world building are honestly so brilliant! With the introduction of the First-Class Mage Exam, the world gets sooo much bigger. So many different mages are brought to the table. Each with their own ambitions, fears and philosophies about what magic is to them. This journey really shifted from a quiet meditation on memories and time into this living, breathing world of power and individuals all chasing something different. I think what I love the most is how Frieren moves through all of this chaos with the same stillness and calm as she did before. Everyone else feels so tense and competitive. Absolutely desperate to prove themselves as something more. While Frieren simply... exists. She quietly carries centuries of experience that make the trials feel almost tiny in comparison. Her relationship with magic is so fundamentally different from everyone else's and I find myself amazed by it every single time. And it turns out, I had no reason to doubt Fern and her abilities. Again 😅 There's something so satisfying about watching her stand so confidently among these incredibly talented mages. So calm, so precise, so incredibly efficient.Ehre: These are just basic offensive spells...Fern: Zoltraak go BRRRRRRRRRRRRR 🤣🤣🤣And then we get one of the most fascinating lore moments so far with the intro of Serie. Just when I thought I understood the history of magic in this world, Frieren drops this insane revelation. And Serie is Flamme's master. The master of the woman who changed the course of human magic itself. Where Flamme believes in spreading magic to humanity and nurturing its growth, Serie seems far more distant, cold, and almost aloof. I feel like she looks on the next generation of mages as if they are experiments or curiosities. I'm honestly still trying to understand her and how I feel about her gatekeeping of magical knowledge.I feel like this new lore is reminding us that Frieren's story has never just been about defeating the Demon King or traveling from place to place. It's always been about time itself. How knowledge, kindness, and understanding are passed down quietly through generations. I can't wait to learn more now that we're finally peeking behind the curtain of this world's magical history. And I absolutely NEED to see what happens with this second mage exam after leaving us on a cliffhanger like that 😅👀 See you all next week for more!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/CehqB5IIvF8I watched this on Crunchyroll in original Japanese with subtitles
