I think the fog finally lifted a bit more in these two episodes, but instead of clarity I only felt more darkness underneath it all and more unanswered questions. Everything in this show feels wildly uncomfortable... but not in a bad way. Just an intentional way. The creepy darkness looming way where you can feel the show just tightening around Jessica.

Kilgrave's presence in these episodes had me SO nervous for Jessica and her friend the entire time. His control goes so deep. The idea that people aren't even just being manipulated but completely stripped of their agency? It's terrifying to think about.I think I'm finally starting to understand Jessica more and more. Not just her sarcasm or hard shell, but the exhaustion under it all. She carries her trauma like it's just part of the daily routine at this point. It feels so heavy watching her navigate her life and still choose to keep going, keep fighting, keep trying. Even if she doesn't fully believe she can win.I love how this show has me thinking like an investigator now too. Every detail feels so important. Every glance, every camera, every word choice. I'm over analyzing everything. I'm making assumptions based on what we know so far, trying to piece it all together like I've got a corkboard in my head with red strings exploding everywhere lol. But this show does something so genius. It shifts the ground right from underneath of us. From Jessica. New information comes in and suddenly everything we thought we knew has to be re-evaluated. It's like this show is constantly reminding me that I don't have the full picture yet. The case isn't solved. It's only getting more and more complicated. That feeling mixed with Kilgrave's presence? It's honestly making me so paranoid and stressed. I don't trust casual conversations anymore. I'm side-eyeing characters who haven't even done anything yet like "Hmm. What if Kilgrave has already gotten to them?"It's such smart writing because it puts me right into the headspace of Jessica. That constant state of alertness. That inability to ever fully relax without a swig of whiskey. I'm honestly kind of obsessed with how this show is doing that. It's doing so much more than telling a story, it's making us experience it fully. It's stressful. It's brilliant. And I can't wait to watch more next week!

Ive been waiting for this.. seriously. Thank you. 😊

Yeeesss! I like how from a writing standpoint there’s sooo many levels of how dark the world really is , from this , Daredevil etc in fiction to how it is in real life just interesting seeing how these stories unfold . Kilgriave presence is so heavily felt they did a great job of showing that with how Jessica is feeling everyday. I’m pretty sure Jess was bluffing when she said 99, cause so far as we seen she is a loner & chooses to be & when her & Luke talked earlier she did say he was the only other powered person she has actually met so far

Here we go fam! 💪 Can't wait till Kaliwali starts reacting to "The Punisher" or "Luke Cage"

Requiem For A Dream is a film by Darren Aronofsky.. it's an essay on all different kinds of addiction. it's pretty dark and strange and doesn't pull its punches... still maybe you might want to watch it here on the channel.

Normally, for a reason I'm unable to explain, your timing for these uploads is impeccable Kali. Usually, I've just got in from work, made myself a mug of tea and opened a pack of cookies while I contemplate what I'm going to prepare myself for dinner....and usually the notification comes through at the perfect moment for me to sit down and relax with a new reaction.... Hasn't quite worked out for me today, I've still got 40 minutes before I finish work..... that's 40 agonising minutes of watching the clock , 40 long minutes wait before I can immerse myself back into this intriguing series. Can't wait to get home... Thank you Kali for giving me something extra special to look forward to this evening. Hope your day is going well... have a spectacular evening.

Thanks Kali for the Jessica Jones refresher. Really enjoy watching it with you and your community.

Jess *didn't* kill *anyone* . T'was Killgrave. Through her yes, B U T 't's'all Killgrave. Everything Killgrave. BECAUSE, and this is end all be all *important* and a thing that *desperately needs* to beat in your (and everyone else's) head throughout this entire season; KILLGRAVE IS A PUSSY. That's it. That's all. A whiney, piss baby, pussy who can't live without his ''toys'' .

Kali is too young for Jessica Jones' steamy love life ! Quick history lesson... It's the 1990s and the internet is spreading globally. Marvel and DC comic books that were also competing with Image, a company started by disgruntled artists (Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, Rob Liefeld). Then everyone started pirating comic books online (along with everything else !) and Marvel came close to going under. Marvel had lent their licence for Blade to make a successful comic book movie, but did not have enough bank to make their own films, so they sold their most popular IPs to SONY (Spider-Man) and FOX (X-Men, Fantastic Four, DareDevil... and thanks to Nic Cage, Ghost Rider). Marvel used this money to make Iron Man kick starting the MCU. However because FOX owned the X-Men MUTANTS were off the table for Marvel movies and TV shows. (In Age of Ultron they "got around" Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch by calling them "enhanced" rather than mutants, and they were technically long term Avengers in the books. But they are mutants !) Whilst we are on the subject, Kevin Feige was directly in charge of MCU Phase 1-3. Before this he was lent to FOX to consult on X-Men and was largely ignored ! Rants will be incoming... Disney bought Marvel around the time Guardians was in development, and now they have also acquired FOX bringing everyone except Spider-Man (who appears still on loan from SONY who have the rights to make their own films). I'm certain SONY are very happy with this arrangement. So FOX is under the Disney banner, mutants are now back on the MCU table as was debuted in Doctor Strange 2 and Deadpool 3. Here endeth the lesson. There is time for any questions from the audience...

Great reaction to a good batch of episodes! I liked your observation here about how the show does "reveals". There are some "breaks in the case" like in regular detective-genre stories, but mostly the reveals are just gaining new context that challenges your assumptions or sheds new light on characters. I hadn't really put my finger on that myself yet, but you nailed it when you said that! Obviously the main storyline is about Kilgrave, but the main mystery is about digging into who Jessica Jones is, and that's a cool angle for a show like this. I'm looking forward to more next week. 😊

Really enjoying rewatching Jessica Jones with you! Yes, Jessica and Luke were not born with their powers. Just like Peter Parker, Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers via accident or experimentation. Mutants are pretty unique in the Marvel universe. Excited for the X-men reaction! Rewatching this, I forgot how good the acting is. What an amazing performance by Krysten Ritter in the end of episode 4. She totally embodies JJ! David Tennant (who usually plays good people) is so convincing and creepy as Killgrave. And the shady Hogarth is played by Carrie-Anne Moss. Do you remember her as Trinity in the Matrix?

Bee

Girl, the "I have 99 super powered friends" line was clearly a lie, Jessica can barely hold 1 friend, no way she even knows a hundred different people 🤣

2026-09-07 13:00 Kali, for clarification, though I haven’t finished your episode 4 reaction, “99 other people like me” was just a scare tactic bluff. lol

I love when shows give all their characters-character. The scene when Hogarth takes Pam to 'the restaurant' and she finds out this is where Hogarth proposed to her wife is a great scene. All we know about Pam, really, is she is the mistress/'other woman'. Here, very simply, we find out she has a code and isn't a wallflower. As much as she is with Hogarth, in this moment - she knows what Jerry did here was wrong & and from an audience perspective we know a little more about Pam. This also tells us a bunch about Jerry too.

The notification came about 5 hours into my shift, I still had 4 to go! Though I have to admit I'm pretty used to this. The timing isn't great when you're 7, 8 or 9 hours apart.

kaliwali

Ooooooh! Well that makes way more sense 🤣

kaliwali

LOL she got me good too huh 😅🤣

kaliwali

OMG thank you for placing Carrie-Anne Moss from the Matrix! I was trying so hard this whole time to place where I've seen here before. Yes! Now I can't unsee haha

kaliwali

clearly, I remember names very well 🤣

kaliwali

I hope you had a relaxing night!

kaliwali

Ahhh that makes more sense that she would be bluffing. Clearly I'm pretty gullible irl 🤣

Narutoanime16

Nah your fine you have common sense 👍🏼🤣 🤣all good lol.

eladrin22

obviously, this doesn't apply here. But as for your comment "why doesn't she just go to a shooting range". Well, from the context you had at the time - Woman starts going to a shooting range. Next day, partner found dead from gunshot. Probably not a good idea.

Mister Lou

I think the "99 friends" was a bluff to scare her so much they leave the city? 🤔 but yeah, sucks that I know what happens. So I'm trying to be careful with my comments and just enjoy your first time watch. Can't wait for more! As much as I hate Trinity or the lawyer lady, I kind of agree with her, what if a morally good person had Killgrave's powers? They probably would have a different name, but do a lot of good?

PG Modehouse

David Tennant is so terrifying as Kilgrave, which came as a shock to everyone who knew him as the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who.

Batman

If I recall correctly there where also multiple instances of daredevil s1 referencing the avengers. I remember them saying an iron suit and a magic hammer i earlier episodes. Like you mentioned Ben urich had headlines framed as well. Also that is one of the main reasons for nobu and fisk by extension trying to take over the real estate destroyed in hells kitchen from the battle of new york. They called it "the incident"

kaliwali

Lol yeah, definitely more of a "she's up to something sketchy.. why doesn't she just go to a shooting range" comment than a "i don't understand, why doesn't she just go to a shooting range" comment 😂

kaliwali

yeah! I love the references making it all feel way more connected

Dude Longcouch

A fellow Buffy fan, I see. I've been trying to get Kali to watch Buffy for close to a year now haha.

Dude Longcouch

I was struggling to remember where I recognized Wendy from, and finally I realized she had a small role in LOST, another show I would go gaga if Kali watched :) Incidentally, she's quite good in both roles. She seems to specialize in minor but emotional and impactful characters.

Kal

In that context, it is a bluff. But to be fair, if you take the whole Marvel roster, she might not be too far off😆

rian

requiem for a dream…you should uhhh react to it 😜

Chris

That's a huge endeavour sir. Is there a key episode list like for X-Files? You might want to suggest that.
