I feel like these three episodes completely shattered whatever idea I had of where Daredevil was going to go, ever.

I though this season would be pretty straightforward after meeting Frank Castle. Matt and Frank's ideals would clash. Hero versus antihero. Mercy versus punishment. And while that's definitely still a huge part of this story, the show has now quickly slipped into something much bigger and messier and... creepier.Frank's trial was honestly a bit heartbreaking for me. I keep seeing the man underneath the Punisher. But he keeps getting pulled in so many directions. At the same time, Matt's life feels a bit similar. Every choice he makes seems to create three new problems. His relationships are crumbling, his career is burning, and Elektra just keeps pulling him toward a version of himself that frankly scares me. And then Stick graced us with his presences again...And this is where I started feeling genuinely lost. Suddenly there's ancient organizations, secret wars, mysterious assassins, NOBU IS ALIVE???, and everyone is talking like there's this entire history that we've only seen a tiny glimpse of. I felt like I was constantly trying to keep up with the show while it just sprinted right ahead of me at every angle.I'm confused. I'm suspicious of everyone. I don't know who is good or bad or if that even matters here anymore. I'm worried for Matt. I have absolutely NO idea where all of this is headed anymore... Which probably means the show is doing exactly what it's meant to do. I can't wait for more! This is definitely my favorite Season so far 🔥

Hey Kali, thanks for the great reaction! So a lot of Elektra, Stick and the Hand is seeped in the mystical and supernatural. It's trying to be faithful to the comic books (which I appreciated) but can see why it may seem very a sudden and jarring twist for the non-comic book reader.

Love this show so much ! I just find it kinda funny feels like Matt is always being asked the question “hey when you gonna kill somebody already ?” Now this season we have both Frank & Elecktra who kill people just for different reasons & then Matt is in the middle. Definitely feels like we’re in Matt’s head space a lot more this season with his fast everything is & how it feels out of control cause he is out of control & playing catch up to everything. Yea Marvel has a lot of secret organizations you’d be surprised , between that & all the different worlds & such. I can see you really loving the Daredevil comics him & Spiderman team up a lot but Daredevil in one story jumps back into action & accidentally kills someone & convinces himself that Fisk caused it 😂. Spiderman is the one who has to talk him down.

I tried very hard to be first on this video, thanks for another stellar reaction. Also happy you did 7, 8 and 9….especially after that cliffhanger of an ending on 8

I think it was a really nice touch that for most of these last episode we are left to keep waiting for "when is Elektra gonna screw over Matt and his relationship with Karen?" but at the end of the day the first big crack in their relationship is a difference in morality/belief between the two. Not some cheap romantic drama like a big missunderstanding where Karen walks in on Elektra and Matt after she slept at her appartment thinking he was cheating.

Colossus

I was wondering where you'd know Clancy Brown from but Flubber was not on my list 🤣

KJ

🤣

KJ

Aww Remy missed you! I'm trying to remember but I the Black Sky and what it is is mentioned in the stick episode from Season 1. If you wanted to refresh yourself.

Bee

Kali: *doesn't recognize Trinity after in a whole season of Jessica Jones Also Kali: *knows the full cast of Flubber 😂😂😂

Robin Holmes

What most people miss is that Matt HATES Frank. And it goes beyond his Catholic beliefs or crossing the line. He hates Frank because he (in comics at least) actually works.

I'm having a great time watching this with you, because I feel justified with your "What is going on?!"-reaction. 🤣 Yeah, this is where I fell off watching the Netflix shows. The weird mystical/supernatural immortality business just felt like it came out of nowhere and massively jumped the shark. I understand it's from the comics, but I never read those so I was just confused. I believe moving forwards will be all new to me too! Though I may have seen the rest of this season? I don't recall. To be fair, it's been over a decade since then.

Onno Smits

I 100% assumed she was gonna say Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob SquarePants. 🤣

Akuma means Devil or Demon. Great analysis as always, I'm glad you're enjoying this season. I keep forgetting how good it is. When you're done with this season (I know you have a lot on your plate) you should check out the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie sometime. It's not great, the music is ridiculous, the performances are wonderfully cheesy, but it would be fun to see how they adapt the Elektra saga.

Danny

This is a random thing to get hung up on, but why do all the American flags in these episodes have 48 stars instead of 50? Is that a marvel comics thing?

eclipse

I warned you on the last episode but was probably too late of a comment for you to catch... "Elektra is the best... exactly what Daredevil needs. Her and Frank will get him back on the right track (with a bit of motivation from Stick as well) Oh and we don't need some weak villians like the Yakuza... much bigger fish to fry... :)" Strap in tight, things are gonna get weird... but it will all work out... you can trust Daredevil... the only quote that is truly applicable is the time tested "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." ... and now you've net "The hand" but Elektra is not of the hand. Nor is stick... you really should watch season 1 of Luke Cage and Ironfist before The Defenders to get more context... Oh and the news article was about Karen's younger brother... she was the driver.

kaliwali

Do they!? I didn't even notice 👀

kaliwali

LOL I'm honesty glad I'm not the only one either! This felt funkyyyy & very jarring. I like it but I also have so many questions 🤣 I'm excited to keep watching tho & I'm glad I could give you some motivation to keep going this time!

kaliwali

My mod is awesome! I'm definitely glad they suggested 7-9 for this season!

kaliwali

I keep hearing the Ben Affleck Daredevil is great!

Burak Yağız

He was not playing catholic lawyer when he was talking to Karen those are his actual strong feelings yes he understands Franks situation but still he hates what Frank is doing and he is absolutely against it he still believes in law he took down Fisk because of the law vigilante side just helps the situation

Cameron

Season 3 is a lot more grounded and honestly the best season.

Fred Aczon

It's still a fun watch, it's very of it's time lol

Amko Basic

That Remy cameo 🤣 I remember watching that prison fight scene The first time when it came out and I didnt know who The punisher was and remember thinking holy moly by The end of it. Just keep watching and you Will get The answers you're Looking for! When you finished season 1 I said that some queations will be answered in some of The other "defender" shows

i find it a bit unintentionally funny how matt is like "listen! foggy! you dont understand! elektra is back, and there are yakuza's, and we're fighting them!" and foggy is like "dude, im just a lawyer!" on that, the part about removing the jury is because it seemed like the witness, the expert witness was about to go off on his own and give testimony that seemed to be through some other form than his own word, in a way. like, clearly he was stressed and he NEEDED to get something off his chest, and whether or not that would be testimony that was reliable is not fair for the jury to hear since, as we learned, his testimony and actions was through threats and was unreliable. because if he was "threatened to tell the truth" whos to say he wasnt threatened to tell a lie? making his entire testimony worthless basically, and it may sway the jury in a potential false narrative. about frank being in a suit, im not sure how far it goes but i dont think its usual for him to be shown at all in an orange suit, even when just being present during proceedings. it gives the jury the idea that hes already guilty, basically. another thing youre not supposed to do in court is ask if youre allowed to treat a witness as hostile and then proceed to not only not ask anymore questions but basically give a closing argument. but, its a show.

Frank Castle

Welcome back kali! & Happy belated birthday to baby kali.. GOD BLESS! ✨❤️

Mister Lou

Dutton calls Fisk a fat man before stating "There can only be one Kingpin in this bitch" Then it ends with Fisk chowing down on a meal while Dutton is slowly dying and repeats the line "There can only be one Kingpin" Also I love the fight scene where Frank let's out The Punisher! Even his crash out in court, his yell is so intense and terrifying. I'd be shook if I was in that room!

Cameron

Matt is such a jerk this season.

Cameron

I'm pretty sure it's typical for the defendant to be dressed nicely to not prejudice the jury.

RP

All I want is to see you react to The Punisher series sooner than later. It doesn’t spoil anything from the rest. So that my 2 cents! 🍻

pinkdino99

One thing I always notice is that DareDevil brutalises his opponents far more when Matt has had a bad day. Yes, he does not kill, but he is using this brutality as a way of punishing others in the same way he uses their brutality to punish himself.

C. J. Ramirez

I feel bad for Matt and elektra cause they both were used as kids by stick

Taner

In the courtroom, when Matt asks Frank, ‘Can I call you Frank?’, if you look at his facial expression, you can understand from Matt’s tone of voice that he has figured out he is Daredevil.

pinkdino99

The Hand are a huge part of the DareDevil, Iron Fist, Elektra and Wolverine comic storylines. Nothing like a whole bunch of ninjas to fight through ! After that Punisher hallway scene I think you are ready for The Raid Kali !

kaliwali

Your username on here!!! Ty for the birthday wishes as well!

kaliwali

that's what I was wondering!

Phil Stubblefield

You ask about whether clearing the courtroom (both the jury and the gallery) was standard practice. IAMAL, but given an unusual situation that could go in any direction, my guess is that the judge wanted to ensure that nothing was said in front of the jury (or in front of the public, who might then speak to the media) that would effectively cause a mistrial. Disregarding the extra expense to the city, imagine how long it might take to find another jury when it took so long to find the first one!

I grew up watching all the superhero movies as they released in theaters, so for me I LOVED the Ben Affleck Daredevil which was released in between Spider Man 1 and Spider Man 2, so if you enjoyed the general vibes of the first 2 Tobey Maguire Spider Man movies I think you'll enjoy it as well!
