I LOVE Deadpool and I think one of my favorite things about these movies is still the contrast between him and the X-Men. Unfortunately though, I do have a huge personal pet peeve with sequels... And it's when they take jokes that landed really well the first time around and basically just do them all over again. But louder. And with more chaos glitter thrown on top 😅 I felt like Deadpool 2 did that A LOT.. Like way too much. And it made most of the humor way less funny to me this time around. I wanted something NEW & hilarious! But I just got baby legs instead of baby hand and it was way more disturbing here LOLI also have to say that some of the humor surrounding Russell was just not for me. The whole prison pouch thing.. This kid is FOURTEEN?! Why is he in prison first of all. Second of all, how does he even know what a prison pouch is?! I know it's Deadpool and inappropriate is obviously a huge part of the deal, but some of it just crossed from funny and outrageous to just being really weird and uncomfortable for me. There were moments where I was just sitting there a bit stunned like... who wrote this and WHY is this happening right now?! 🤣I feel like that plus the recycled jokes just made this one not my favorite. But hey! There was still plenty to love. The X-Men humor continues to be one of my favorite parts of these movies. The action, the CGI fights being way over the top, and of course I live for every Wolverine mention 😭So overall, I definitely had fun watching Deadpool 2!I'd be lying if I said I loved it more or as much as the first one.But not all sequels can be like Terminator 2 or Aliens 🔥👽Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/Gsk720ZS2TUI watched this on Disney+

Super early to this one keep the reactions coming! I enjoy you’re feedback

Chad Bushue

Yay! I was getting worried and about to send out a search party for Deadpool! Very excited for this one and all the movies to come ☺️ And for the record, you and I had similar thoughts on this one…it’s a fun rewatch but trust me all is fixed and expanded with awesomeness for Deadpool and Wolverine

Wil Castillo

I love Brad Pitt's performance in this movie!

Edgar Gonzalez

I prefer the first, but the second is pretty good too! Only weird thing is that they got Cable...everybody knows you cant have Cable without bishop OR apocalypse! 😨

Narutoanime16

I enjoy this movie just cause of the story, like Deadpool obvi is very hard to kill so he's actively trying to be with the love of his life but he can't. Even in the comics his girlfriend is Death herself and they love each other but can't be together lol. Cable was dope to see, if you watch the 1992 X Men animated series and its sequel X Men 97 you'll know more about him and who he's related to... But I love whenever there's a time travel story with X men the future is just shit for everyone, Avengers, Fantastic 4, Spiderman etc its just horrible for every being on earth. I love Domino's ability is being lucky its an amazing mutant power and yes Juggernaught is really Charles Xavier's brother, well half brother but yes they are related

JeRon Washington

Kali, the scene with the baby legs had me laughing so fucking hard 🤣

ButtercupsTrueLove

Thanks for writing your honest critique of "Deadpool 2". I like hearing what works or what doesn't work for anyone giving a reaction. I liked Zazie Beetz (EDIT for spelling) character, Domino, and her superpower but casting Josh Brolin as yet another Marvel super villain gets a little bit stale.

Isaiah L

Yeah I agree, Deadpool 1 was better than Deadpool 2 in my opinion. However, the third movie (Deadpool and Wolverine) is a banger!!

JeRon Washington

Kail, I still to this day don't understand why you don't cuss at all, especially watching rated R movies. I have a foul mouth, I have to let the cussing come out

rubberkidney

X-Men '97, Kali. I know I've mentioned it, and I know you've read it, but it really will be the glue that seals your X-Men experience together. Plus, there's also a new season coming out. kali 'Let's fuck some shit up' wali, I don't know, it's got a ring to it.

Liam Harrold

Chica Chica rise our beautiful X Force 🤣😍😍

Phil Stubblefield

Kali, you have proven once again that you are a class act! 'Nuff said.

Giancarlo Gasparin

As someone who was born and raised in Miami, they in fact did not spell “cuatro” wrong lol.

Greigsthenos

Cant wait for your Deadpool & Wolverine reaction! You’ll love that

Chuckles1004

Can't wait for Deadpool 3. You now have most of the necessary Easter Eggs, with this movie. Deadpool 3, seriously, the Best movie of 2024.

Jojo Garlin

Cable is a big part of X-Men lore, I won’t spoil but he is related to two major X Men characters. If you want to know more about Cable’s character and story watch X-Men 97. It’s a very important and faithful x men adaptation and a wonderfully written series

kaliwali

LOL when I was editing this for Patreon I realized my dyslexia was definitely kicking in because you're right! I thought they spelt it "cotatro" in my brain at the time 🤣

Howie

Super reaction, Kali! Yeah I didn't like this as much as the first one also, but for me it was mostly because I didn't like Russell as a character. It was difficult to root for him. After reading your write-up, I'd have to agree with you. All the Deadpool movies (including the third), while I enjoyed them, are all over-the-top with irreverent humor. If I wasn't a huge comic book fan I don't think I'd enjoy it as much. That being said, since I am a huge comic book fan I can appreciate them for what they truly are: popcorn movies Btw, X-Force was a real superhero team and comic book! "So dark. Are you sure you're not from the DC universe?" One of my favorite lines ever!

Howie

Is Cable really a villain though?

Giancarlo Gasparin

Honestly, fair. This is THEE most “Part 2” sequel I can think of with the recycled jokes and over-the-top unseriousness. I’d argue the studio didn’t really have a choice but to make this movie. The joke about Deadpool being “talked about in the same sentence as Jesus” was actually true. At the time, Deadpool 1 was the 2nd highest grossing R rated movie in North America after Passion of the Christ (but number 1 globally), which is insane. They couldn’t NOT follow that up with something. I think the real challenge with this character is how to incorporate him into an ensemble movie with the X-Men or the Avengers. I wouldn’t envy the person who would have to take that on creatively, but I can’t think of a better way to evolve Deadpool than that.

William

Nice critique here and I super agree with you. In fact, when this came out, I super didn't like this one...at all. It just didn't land with me, or at least it mosly fell flat on it's derivative face. That being said, I've come to enjoy it more over the years with repeated viewings; our criticisms are still valid, but I've eased off on being as critical as I used to be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Isaiah L

I don't know if you caught it but Deadpool called Cable Thanos because they are the same actor lol

KamikazeCDN

The Brad Pitt cameo was so good, one of the best in any movie. Matt Damon also had a cameo in this movie, he was one of the guys Cable stole the truck from alongside Alan Tudyk. And yes both Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool are Canadian which is why the Canada joke keeps coming around lol. Yes Juggernaut and Xavier are step-brothers in the comics. Juggernaut also isn't technically a mutant, his powers are more mystical in nature. It's a whole thing. Either way I do agree the first one is the better of the two movies though for me they aren't that far apart. I can totally see what you're saying with the reusing jokes, it was a bit of a shame seeing the baby legs gag sort of taking the steam out of you for a bit there. Not that it makes the reaction bad, it just makes me feel bad that something that maybe got hyped up by all of us isn't vibing with you. Glad you did enjoy it overall though so it wasn't some terrible experience.

Giancarlo Gasparin

Personally, I thought he was outdone by Matt Damon in this movie.

mitchhamilton64

what an odd coincidence that they mention kirsten dunst. she voiced kiki in kiki's delivery service! yes, that was brad pit. :D he apparently was there for a day and was paid in a cup of coffee. he would also star in the directors next project. its that movie where hes on a bullet train and on the bullet train theres a lot of murdering and hijinx going on on the bullet train. you should check out that bullet train movie. i think it was called "Oh my god! someone stop this train because its going too fast! im brad pitt!" i agree with most of what you said but to me the humor also just felt off and i cant place my finger on it. it felt like a case of trying to turn others into deadpool, i guess? where hes supposed to be a third wheel in a scenario and add weird to it but now its like everyone brings their own weird as well. idk, just felt like something was offset from the first movie. a bit of lore behind green lantern is it came out after the MCU was starting to kick off and was supposed to be the DC's attempt at making a DCCU. they started with green lantern because like iron man, he was known but he wasnt super well known like a superman or a captain america. but there was troubles behind the scenes with the director and the studio interfering and it affected the overall product. its kind of another case of ryan reynolds having an idea of what the story or character needed again but was ignored. not saying that definitely wouldve fixed the movie if they listened to him since his heart was always on deadpool, but yeah, he regretted that movie. and as you can guess, it did not do well financially or critically.

MorahSDG

I liked this one more than the first, and I think the first one actually aged less well for me because of the over abundance of sex jokes, personally. I still like this one, but I appreciate your critiques so much, I think that's great that you're always honest about your genuine feelings!

McShades

I know your were a bit disappointed with the humor of this movie (and you were right, the humor in some cases did feel reused from the 1st film), but Deadpool does redeem himself in Deadpool & Wolverine, the story is very unique and there is a ton of new jokes. Also, that's one of the reasons I love your reactions, your honest... In the comics Juggernaut was the brother of Professor X When Deadpool has the baby legs and crosses his legs, that's a famous scene from a movie called "Basic Instinct" Regarding A-ha song, I think that was the original band singing it, I remember them singing that version of the song on MTV Unplugged. The actor who played Cable was also the voice of Thanos in the Avengers movies

McShades

The only movie I would suggest watching before Deadpool 3 would be the Fantastic Four (2005)

Giancarlo Gasparin

"Zip it, Thanos" is easily one of the best meta lines ever uttered in cinema.

Jake Follain

No McShades, the Blade movies are arguably even more important than that, I don't know why you would not suggest watching at least the first one.

Chuckles1004

I agree, but I didn't want to spoil it. Lol

Jake Follain

You missed most of the MCU references I think, like when he said to Cable "zip it Thanos" (this came out around the time of Infinity War in 2018), this is of course because the actor who plays Cable (Josh Brolin) plays Thanos and does the voice and motion capture for him. Might recognize the voice now. Also when he calls Domino "black Black Widow", when he calls Dopinder "Brown Panther", and also when he says "you're basically Hawkeye" to Cable because he has no powers. You got the Winter Soldier reference. As for the movie and your comments about it, I see your point but I counter that with it being Deadpool, there are no rules here. They apply to normal movies.

Tim Heron

I've read that it was Ryan Reynolds who noticed the similarity between "Papa, Can You Hear Me" and "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?" Barbara Streisand is Josh Brolin's real-life stepmother, which would have been perfect for meta-jokes; more would have been included, but it slipped the writers' minds, and in the DVD commentary track, they wonder how they could have overlooked it.

Mister Lou

Repeat gags were probably from this being a low budget film. Its Marvel.. but Marvel Fox, not Marvel Disney.. the end credit scene for Deadpool 1 was supposed to be Beast shitting on his lawn, like he joked about earlier and Nicolas Hoult who played younger beast was supposed to film that but they couldn't budget it in, so instead they put him in a bathrobe and did the shot for shot Farris Bueller ending (another 4th wall breaking movie). But luckily X-Men The Dark Phoenix was filming the same time as this, so they did a full cast cameo.

Jahny Bravo

Fun fact: Deadpool seeing Vanessa every time he has a near-death experience is them semi-adapting an aspect of one of his main comic book relationships. Because comic Deadpool dated DEATH. In the comics, there’s an actual cosmic entity Death. She’s the living embodiment of the concept of death, and death cannot happen without her. There’s one reality in the Marvel Multiverse called the Cancerverse where the superheroes “defeat” Death and kill her. But it backfires and results in a broken reality where everyone is disease ridden, mutated, and monstrous because you can’t cure diseases if the bacteria/virus can’t die. And new cells can’t replace old cells if the old cells won’t die, so they just pile in everyone’s bodies endlessly (like actual tumors). And true to its name, the Cancerverse does occasionally try to invade other universes. So her being called Death is literal in every sense of the word because nothing can die unless she’s there to make sure life is capable of dying. And everything that dies, sees Death herself on their way out before being sorted out into whatever their afterlife is meant to be. Because of Deadpool’s healing he would constantly “die,” see Death for a while, then heal and go back to being alive. So Death started to enjoy his visits and eventually they’d use his temporary deaths to start hooking up. Turning his near-death experiences into Death Date Night lol. If you’re interested, this is like a short 4 minute compilation of their cutscenes in an old Deadpool video game that basically shows their dynamic (starting with a quick character bio intro every character in the game got, but also a weird muted minute in the middle because of music that’s skippable): https://youtu.be/adkT1wSlMaI?is=4i-r4OHiqgIMlCi6 Sooooo anyway, him seeing Vanessa every time he “dies” in the movie is kinda a play on the fact comic Deadpool once had a girlfriend he could only visit by dying. Because he was dating literal Death herself. Bonus fact: Death is also the reason comic book Thanos snapped half the universe out of existence. He didn’t care about trying to fight overpopulation or “universal balance.” He was just wanted to impress Death because he was in love with her and trying to prove his “devotion” to her. So he tried to create an extinction event on an unparalleled scale as an “I love you, please notice me” declaration. Didn’t even work lol, and Thanos has a long history of hating Deadpool for no other reason than pure envy that Death liked him more. They even give a lil tongue-in-cheek nod at that motivation during the mid-credit scene of the first Avengers movie. When Thanos’ minion tells him Loki failed and starts talking about how Earth was not as helpless as advertised, he ends with “To challenge them is to court Death.” And that’s when Thanos turns around and gives that cheeky little smile like he’s thinking “so you’re saying she might finally notice me? Hell yea!”

Matthew Mejia

If you liked that slowed version of (take on me) it’s from there MTV unplugged performance you should definitely check out that video on YouTube i remember when I first heard them sing it slow it made it one of my favorite songs of all time because it’s a great song fast and it’s a great song slow and gives you two different emotional reactions!

Ron B

I definitely prefer the first one as well Kali, you're not alone! I will say the music in this one like you said was pretty stellar just like the first, but I also think it was -kinda- amazing that Ryan (to my knowledge at least) fought to get Celine Dion (one of his fellow Canadians) to write and produce that song for the intro credits. Domino was a lot of fun for the movie too, but the humor is much better in the first. Sequels are always pretty tough and comedy sequels imo are -probably- the hardest.

James Park

Correct me if im wrong but im sure that deadpools ability is that his body keeps him a constant state of dying which apparently is even more powerful than wolverines healing, that coupled with the ability to break the fourth wall in comics makes him very powerful

Kal

There are some parts that I like more than the first one, but I feel the same about the repeat jokes and I feel like many of them didn't land, at least for me. But there's still quite a few gems in this one, funilly enough, I think the one that landed the strongest at the time for me, was Deadpool executing Deadpool in the post credit scene, because that joke had been setup for almost a decade, and both Ryan and the production expressed their disdain for that rendition of Deadpool long before and during both movies marketing cycle. It was the ultimate meta joke, which is also one thing I really enjoyed with Deadpool vs Wolverine, it's pure fan service, but a lot of the better jokes come from a long history of fanbase discussions and arguments. It's always nice when a movie or tv show keep their audience front and center in their minds.

JP.Dangerously

Closely followed by the One-eyed Willy reference.

JP.Dangerously

I would agree with you if it was anyone other than Josh Brolin. He's just so good.

JP.Dangerously

I appreciate your reaction to this one, Kali. When I first watched this movie I kind of felt the same way about them recycling old jokes... but after a second watch it grew on me. Now it feels more to me like continuity, since Deadpool as a character is also kind of a one-trick pony when it comes to his healing/immortality, stuff is just gonna be recycled. It also helps that the best parts of this movie aren't the recycled stuff. Not as good as the first, but it's still a pretty fun movie I think. Oh! And if it makes you feel any better, it was in this movie that I also realized I had been singing that A-ha song wrong - but a different lyric. I always thought it was "today is an odd day to find you shying away," rather than "today is another day to find you shying away." So maybe you're in good company.

KJ

I've only seen it once, didn't like it anywhere near as much as the first (different director), and the first doesn't hold up to repeating viewing imo. Also this one soured because Reynolds is arguably responsible for the death of a stuntwoman in it due to negligence and recklessness.

Omni

Deadpool 2 definitely has some serious flaws. It still has a solid amount of fun for what it is. All of that said, they really figured it out for the 3rd one. I may have bothered my friends with how hard I was laughing in the theater.

Omni

Yes generally speaking Deadpool has an even higher healing factor than Wolverine. He also is a pure write in joke for the writers on every level so in the comics he's even stronger than in the movies. There's a story where he literally just kills all the Marvel characters. How does he kill Wolverine you ask? - Magical sword out of a bag.

James Park

I vaguely remember deadpool make the writers invent a new infinity stone for him

Richard

Wow Kali, had no idea you had dyslexia - honestly never would have guessed that, you've never seemed to have a problem with spelling or writing or anything like that. Did it affect you at school at all? I always love it when you're willing to call out a movie for things that are sub-par or overused or poorly written, like you did here. Honestly the Marvel universe is so vast and widespread that it's inevitable that not everything can be an A+ result. Love the shout-out to T2 and Aliens! 🤘

Amko Basic

My favorite character from this movie was definitely Domino, I think she stole the show! I am kind of sad they removed one of my favorite end credit scenes from this version where DP goes back in time to kill baby hitler!

Browngilll

Omg I had no idea that was Matt Damon. I had to google it after this comment. Thanks!

kaliwali

OMG I didn't even recognize alan tudyk!!! I had to google it bc I thought you were joking 🤣

kaliwali

I did NOT catch that! 😱 Definitely didn't realize that was Thanos and now I'm kicking myself for not getting the thanos joke LOL. I was wondering why he said that too

kaliwali

Definitely missed the Thanos! But I didn't laugh during the 'black black widow, brown panther' bc it wasn't that funny 😅

Al Paka

Yay... I've got something to watch tonight. I'm just going to quickly whip up some snacks. :D

Jake Follain

The first Deadpool was a lower budget, this one definitely wasn't.

M1 Maz

She watched all the end credits scenes. Check again :)

Synthetic_CK

Domino cuz things have a way of falling in place around her.

soulspawn

@8:29 Interview with a Vampire is one of my favorite vampire movies, high up with Robert Rodriguez' From Dusk Till Dawn with Quentin Tarantino and Roman Polanski's gothic horror-comedy The Fearless Vampire Killers from 1967.

Giuseppe

The music is always so on point

Ruben Daniel

So... "cuatro" is the correct spelling...

Robert da Spruce

You literally had an “A-Ha” moment seeing this film 😉

Cameron

It's a little disappointing that this has become almost exclusively an anime channel, and the few times you watch something else you always seem annoyed. I guess you got to do what you enjoy.

rian

omg you gotta watch “hunt for the wilderpeople” it’s stars the dude playing russell, he’s so funny 😂

rian

i was just bout to type that but good thing i looked at the comments first lol

Sam

the good guy won .....

Narutoanime16

X Men animated series I hope she checks out one day ! That & Spiderman animated series

Bill Bryant

Ahhhh....please go back and watch the post-movie scenes, you missed a big one!

SMPUNK

If u watch Deadpool and Wolverine ur gonna have too watch certain films in order to get this one or get some references from the third film. Loki season 1 and maybe season 2, Daredevil film with Ben Affleck, Blade movies all 3 oh and The Fantastic Four from 2005. lol

mitchhamilton64

its really disappointing when a reactor stays true to their own feelings and say whats on their mind and be honest to their audience. WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT!?
