I knew you guys would wise up. To be honest, I don't think anybody was enjoying Kong all that much. There were some good moments but overall the game is horrible.

They made a series of Back to the Future comic books that go into some more details. Doc needed a lab assistant and he set up a test for Marty, which he passed and they became friends. They also made one where it's revealed that Doc paid for the future upgrades to the Delorean by selling a bunch of mint condition Action Comics #1 that he grabs from the past.
