Last time i shat myself: I had food poisoning and survived a flight from San Fran to Chicago, without incident. I was on the people mover on my way to arrivals in O’hare when I grew overconfident and decided to trust a fart… had to change my undies and shorts in the handicapped stall and abandon the soiled ones in the bathroom trash XD

69 is almost entirely ironic at this point, if not wholly ritualistic in that people do it just because they know they have to. It's people signalling that they all shared the same experience and are a part of the same group with a heavy dose of almost sarcastic irony. Of course it's not total, but I've never met someone who responded to 69 without the slightest bit of irony.

Last time I shat myself was at an anime convention two days after my cat bit me and gave me a severe infection in my leg. Standing in line for tickets in, some just squeeked out and I had a very bad day. Met a few of my now fiance's friends for the first time that day too with shit drained underoos. Washed the best I could in the bathroom but it lived in the back of my head the whole day.

re: the 69 conversation, I can say that (for my friend group) Ted's theory that it is purely ironic is spot-on. The joke is the idea of finding the number 69 to be funny or significant in and of itself, completely divorced from the act that it is tacitly referencing.

I believe that 69 has become more of a referential thing than an outright funny bit. The majority of times the number comes up, the reference or meme in response is to usually say "Nice!" in an outlandish or even slightly sexual tone. I don't think it's done for laughs anymore. It's evolved.
