I gotta believe there's like...a religious element for the animals like the lions have some divine mandate to keep balance and only eat so many animals or w/e. Like the imagery of baby simba being held in a sunbeam from heaven while all the animals bow goes beyond just 'he's royalty'. Some fanatical-ass animals out on the savanna.
