We’re invading some classy motherfuckers.

The first invasion against patches was probably a tournament match. Generally the person hosting will standby as a third party while two others fight. I did a couple, they’re fun!

Wow! I remember Alex saying that Kelly did NOT like Dark Souls 3 after the first real boss fight... Understand the appeal, but it wasn't for her...

That existential dread Brett felt online? I had the EXACT same experience... To hear all those little white kids flinging the N word around like that was heart wrenching. Prob because I was already an adult the first time I played online (Battlefield 3). Some of it was in chat, but that didn't stop anyone. Some if the filthiest, pettiest stuff I've ever seen. Made me worry about society.

I haven't played competitive fighting games since Mortal Kombat on Sega. People are unhinged with these types of games. The latest street fighter seems to want to change of the formula so that's nice.

You can do that invasion quest offline. It’ll let you invade NPCs

This mario looks like if Koei made a Mario Warriors game

Amazing watching the butt stomp be completely countered by rolling for the first time in the game.. thats when you know marios in trouble

That third match was a clencher! I wonder what brett is planning to do (probably he has no plans specifically) with the big dragon near Caelid, I very much doubt he will "cheese" it, but will he fight it head on? ignore it? I'm intrigued! Caelid was one of the worst parts of the game for me, I don't know why but that area puts me on edge, I feel like I'm in a horror game and everything's trying to kill me and all I have to defend myself is a piece of string.

I don't know about competitive games. I love competing, most of the games I play are competitive, but frustration is human, you can't tell me you don't feel even a tiny bit frustrated after a loss, it's the tiny voice in your head saying "You should have done X instead of Y!", and the thought that you should have known better-- or sometimes you're just screwed by rng like when you draw 5 lands in a row on an MTG match. But in regards to insults and slurs, I have to add (while it might not be relevant) as someone who's ESL, insults are much different, they don't carry the same weight for me as they do for a native speaker because I haven't grown around them nor hear them every day. When I was younger, I didn't even know the "N word" (god I hate saying that phrase sounds dumb) was supposed to be an insult, I LEGIT thought that was just a different way to call black people. Then I got schooled by the internet and was like "Oh.. oooohhh.... crap."

I've always liked that Brett talks about sportsmanship and does his best to normalize the appreciation of getting beaten and learning from your mistakes. Huge respect. However, hearing him talk about it in this video (and knowing a very similar friend that I game with), it's obvious that his outlook on competition is vastly different from the average person's. Even rationally knowing the things that I do about it, it's very hard to not get tilted and salty at times, it's just how people are. It takes a lot of effort for some (most?) of us to keep our cool and not let anger or frustration or the feeling of being intentionally bullied get to us.

I never play in Magic the Gathering or Warhammer 40K tournaments because I don’t like how they make me react. Thankfully I’ve found Commander and Crusades to be the casual but still a little competitive ways to play.

Growing up playing Street Fighter with my brother, we learned at a young age to appreciate getting your butt kicked. Instead of keeping secrets, we would teach each other how to do the move that won the match. When one of us would perfect the move, the other learned how to counter it. So on an so forth. And it became fun even to lose because you see a new way of fighting and you want to learn that combo. It's lead to many epic matches over the years 😄

Emotional intelligence is such a lost trait. I have to admit, even I get salty sometimes but getting better. I, of course, introduced my kids to gaming and they did not enjoy losing. But they've quickly outpaced me. Just trying to be graceful at this point.
