Can you think of what particular quality applies to most middle stage Pokémon?

Colby Mazur

"Awkward" is the quality I would prescribe. A lot of middle stages look incomplete or teenager-esque on purpose. This is especially true for the starters whose middle evolutions are often pretty odd looking to me. Like Thawackey is maybe my least favorite design but it's supposed to look off

Also Sliggoo literally is a middle stage pokemon. Goodra's pre-evo

My answer to the wizard/mage question that no one asked for -- I think wizards are more contemplative and reclusive and seek for hidden knowledge and the answers to the magical universe. Mages are more grounded in the here and now. They use magic for their own egoistic purposes like money, and war. Both can be good or evil, and both have their practical purpose. (But wizards are cooler and def smoke weed)

I would love a JSRF series.

MY pal, Stephen Daniels!

Wizards study and learn arcane secrets. Sorcerers have innate magical power in them. Mage is a catch all term for a spell caster.

Most middle stage Pokémon just look like a bigger, angrier version of the basic stage. So, for example Nidorino is twice the size, has more spikes and angrier looking eyebrows compared to Nidoran.

I’d love to see a Ted beats the first boss of x souls game as a one shot or stream special

Saying Machoke looks weird is WILD, if Machamp didn't exist everyone would completely accept Machoke as the end of the line.

The difference between mages and wizards (specifically in my mind) is wizards are like scholars who use and study magic, and mages are just dudes born with magic. (And warlocks get it from nature.)

"middle pokemon evolutions are wretched". These kind of discussions are why I watch beard bros.

My own headcannon for magic is: Mages: use basic magic, control the elements, thing like fireball, waterball, simple but effective magic. Wizards: Have a deeper understanding of magic and use more complex and compound spells, like they could create a thunderstorm with wind, lightning and a torrential pour. Sorcerers: Are a bit like wizards but they delve in more mystical or hidden areas of magical knowledge, sorcerers would be proficient in conjuration, a sorcerer would create a giant tree to skewer you or create a golem. Summon a black hole, etc. But this is just entirely my own view of each word based on almost nothing.

Ted, I have always been the same way with directions. Unless its my house or work commute, it will take me forever to memorize the directions. I blame it on working memory problems

And right after Ted was talking about it at 3:30 - I wonder if it's just a really meta joke :O

I didn't think of that, but I went and checked if 91 was in the playlist, just out of order, it's not, but there is two 35s because of the BETA ep they put out. So the playlist number looks correct, but it's really missing one

I'm rewatching in 2026 and just wanted to point out: at 7:06 Alex and Brett both said "Malenia" whereafter Ted, with no knowledge of when, where, or who, for that matter, lets out under his breath: "200 episodes". That's crazy.
