interesting, I thought the reigning interpretation was that the song was indeed, about fucking men in the YMCA. With lyrics like "You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find Many ways to have a good time They have everything for you men to enjoy You can hang out with all the boys" It's definitely not necessarily sexual at all, probably just a product of when it was written, so you could say it's just people overthinking it. Though I don't think the outfits are really fit for children, they are meant to be kind of erotic aren't they?
