Try to explain to someone who has no idea what the struggle of memory cards was like.

QOTD: When was the last time you paid to watch a movie at home?

Pay for movies through Amazon Prime Video pretty often. Scooby Doo

I rent movies on occasion at home when I dont think I would watch he movie more than twice because it cheaper.

Bought a PSP as a young adult right out of the military from a Dimple Records Store. Didn't realize the memory card was sold separately. I played the beginning of Phantasy Star at least 50 times lol

I have a small little Blu-ray collection of movies that are "anytime" watches. Doesn't matter what's going on, doesn't matter what my mood is, I will watch them anytime somebody wants to watch a movie or I just want to sit and enjoy. It's probably like 20-30 movies right now and a couple of shows. Small enough to be manageable, but every single one of them is something that I would be very upset if it suddenly vanished from the internet... which is unfortunately a risk these days.

I buy a lot of flicks on iTunes just for the special features.

I also have canceled a lot of streaming services and choose rent movies more often than not to try and kick back money to the people that make these flicks

I just last month bought Prometheus on prime because I realized it was the only Alien movie I didn't own & I was doing a big rewatch before Romulus

Last time I paid to rent/own an individual movie was in 2019 and was Deadpool 2.

I amount of times I’ve paid to rent Jingle All the Way because I couldn’t find a physical copy or I didn’t think about ordering it until the last minute is shameful

Joshua Queen

I rent movies all the time. I wait until the price drops a few times, then check it out.

My wife's liked the music from the Pitch Perfect but had never seen the movies. I owned the first one, the second one was on Max, but the third one was weirdly unavailable so I said fuck it and rented it so we could complete the trilogy.

I use google play review kickbacks and rent movies on YouTube all the time, sometimes the movie just isn't available online besides YouTube.

Actually I've bought movies pretty often. I paid to watch castaway last year cause I was nostalgic (and I hadn't seen it in like 20 years) and it wasn't in any other streaming service and it's dirt cheap on youtube, like 1-2 dollars. The last one I paid I think was that D&D movie "honor amongst thieves" or something from a couple years ago, same deal. Usually if I really really wanna watch it and it's not on any of the services I own I might buy it, I'm too lazy to torrent anymore.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually digitally ‘rented’ a movie…I have a vague memory that I might have, but it would have been 10+ years ago at this point. Closest would be the last movie I paid to go see, which was Rise of Skywalker, pre-Covid. I do buy a lot of movies on iTunes these days though. I rarely do it on release, but usually if you wait a few months you can get the 4K versions for $5-$10, which is better for me than shelling out for discs. And honestly, I haven’t had a better movie watching experience than 4K on a 55 inch OLED at the foot of my bed with audio through my AirPod Max’s. It’s gonna take a lot to actually get me back to the cinema.

I feel absolutely gross any time we do it, but two days ago my wife and I rented How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Wasn't available on any streaming services really. Also Laneseax and the other similar dragons were nightmares for me with my hammer build since I couldn't lock onto any useful locations. They're all way off the ground and away from the legs.

I think the game Alex is trying to remember is Stretch Panic on the PS2

BeefMonster

The last time I remember paying for a movie at home was "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" when it was new. It was my birthday and I was turning 19. My family had just collapsed and it was my older brother and I by ourselves in a tiny crappy apartment. We didn't have a lot of money but my older brother knew we could afford ordering a pizza and renting a dumb movie for my birthday.

Other than Stretch Panic, a game that Alex might have been thinking of could be Go Go Hypergrind for the Gamecube. Not a platformer, but a skateboarding game with design by John K. and the studio behind Ren & Stimpy.

I was thinking Sam and Max but those were Pc games, great ones though, very similar vibe to alex n brett personalities.

Ted's game is called Whiplash. It was on the original xbox. You played as a weasel that was chained to a talking bunny. The bunny was the weapon. Edit: I got it! I made the comment when he said test subjects.

Cody

I just rented Monster House last night
