I just realized... the lands between... it's like "middle earth". You know, something being in the "middle" is "between" things, and land can be a synonym to earth. Though searching it now, the name in japanese is cooler, "hazama no chi", or something like "the land in the gap", or (more liberally) "land within the cracks".

Ugh I hate when people are on their phone when we're hanging out. I just don't get it. There's almost Nothing I could get on my phone that would be so urgent I need to reply right away unless I have some kind of emergency ongoing. I don't think "being addicted to your phone" is an excuse at all tbh.

The reason that "dust is becoming more gooey" is that during modern renovations people tend to like an open floor plan and demolish walls that separate the kitchen from the other living areas. Frying/sautéing anything on a stove top will create oil vapor and smoke that disperses into the kitchen as Alex mentioned. However, when you remove the walls that close off the kitchen it now will spread throughout the attached areas as well. There is a reason a lot of mid-century and before homes have closed off kitchens that make people scratch their head now. The people who built them had to cook more often out of necessity and understood the use case of sacrificing some aesthetics for efficiency/sanity. I imagine before commercially available cleaning spray oil was a nightmare to remove without hella effort or like lead soap lol.
