I don't read X-Men, I'm more of a TMNT guy, but I love listening to you guys chat about it. I really need to check the comics out though.

I’m gonna try the Hachi Machi line later. Will report back. Edit: it worked

So many interesting conversations to be had on the episode, sometimes it hurts to be through a screen and not be able to participate, the discussion of prose and reading in particular is quite interesting to me. Ironically (in terms of the following conversation) one of the few kinds of videos I get on youtube shorts, is linguist content, there are a few linguists who make very intereting videos with tidbits about how language is evolving in the present with the internet, or how common patterns in language originated in the past. And in regards to tiktok and whatnot, I think they're all the same, I keep hearing people say things like "ugh, youtube shorts suck but tiktok is great" when they are all... literally the same exact product. The content serving algorithm will show you the content that you most positively interact with in every one of those, and it's really up to You to not consume absolute garbage on it. I get nice new ideas for cooking recipes and occasional cat videos, it's nice to crush 5-10 minutes every couple days.

I'm Irish. That portrayal of us was common in Punch magazine in England in the 1800s. It was called the Irish Frankenstein. There was also the Stage Irishman, which gave birth to the more garden variety stereotypes that we drink too much and are semi-literate.

I'd like to say that I enjoy hearing the comic book discussions because I am not into comics. It's interesting to hear the views of guys who are into things that I'm not. That said, the main reason that I do not personally like the comic books is because of that multiverse/different writer stuff that makes everything so inconsistent. It's like episodic tv shows where nothing that happens week to week matters, and that loses engagement for me.

I am so aligned Alex's take on zombies and multiverse stuff, I think it explains why I am so delighted by indies and smaller creatives taking these on! It's giving these stale corp crutches a breathe of fresh air.

Banshee looks like if Boris Karloff played the Green Lantern

I do think there is an earnest question in the where do I start vibe. Sometimes, there's a story that is so dense, that I just want to know what parts are friendlier to newcomers. I don't want to buy a comic, movie, book, game, etc, and then have a bad time because I'm lacking a lot of context, ya feel?
