QOTD: Who’s another free dogpile target? (e.g. Nickelback, M. Night)

I love Brett's explanation of not calling things "good" or "bad", which is why I never call most things bad. I hate the Souls games with every fiber of my being because a. I don't like getting my teeth kicked in while playing games and very much enjoy the power fantasy. and b. I hate that a lot of games are adapting the idea those games had of bosses are just a big enemy with a longer health bar. But I know those games are well built and people enjoy them for some reason, so I'd be out of my mind to call them "bad". I just hate them and find them as enjoyable as Sonic '06.

Honestly, Nickelback‘s first album was pretty good but I must admit I hopped on the bandwagon of “can this pickle get more fans than Nickelback“craze back in the day.

I don't agree with that at all. I think yes, a lot of people jut throw around the words "bad" and "good" to mean "I don't like it", but they're NOT the same thing. If I were to say something was "bad" I'm not Just saying "I don't like it", I'm trying to say "there's a few things in this that I think make it so that it's not enjoyable for a lot of people". I mean if you're making something for the purpose of it being enjoyed, there are things that you might like or dislike subjectively, but there's also things that are less-so subjective. If a dungeon requires you to backtrack for 30 minutes because you missed a key in the first room, I think most people would call that bad, because (probably) no one likes to just walk back for 30 minutes.

I just don't feel like that applies. In my head, getting pounded into the dirt over and over is one of the least enjoyable things a video game can do. If it takes you 100 tries to beat a boss once, that doesn't feel like a win. Just that the score is 99 to 1. But saying Fromsoft games are bad is just insane. Calling things bad or good makes things sound objective and I wish people wouldn't be so quick to use them.

Woah I dunno about shamalamadingdang. Didn't he do that live action last air bender? Saw that on my bday in theaters and I was devastated. I think I could watch it for the novelty of how bad it is now and have some fun with it, but oh man was that an awful experience.

I'm a big fan of the Souls games, but I completely understand why someone would not be. Surprisingly enough, the bosses are my least favorite part of the games. While your perception of Souls bosses being just an enemy with a longer health bar is accurate for a few bosses throughout the entire series, I generally disagree. The majority of Souls bosses have far more involved move sets than regular enemies, additional forms activated at particular points in the encounter and/or a gimmick to be figured out.

I know what they missed... and I already know ALL the youtube comments are gonna be like "you didn't drop down in the room behind Dark Link!" and they're gonna bitch and moan instead of hanging out for the ride.
