I love the murder talk 😂 what I assume would happen in a situation like that when trying to identify the remains of the person who burned in a fire, they would collect the remains and use whatever is left to identify the person, if that’s dental records or something else depending on how bad they were burnt. I work in the funeral industry, and even people who have burnt in house fires and have been identified by families, they still have to do testing to fully determine that that’s who actually burnt in the fire. They would then try and contact the family, and I’m sure from there the family would confirm or deny if they lived in that neighborhood or if they were missing, etc.

Absolutely love Watch Duty! Ive always lived in Southern Oregon and we get tons of Wildfires every summer so I've been using it since 2021! The Alameda fire took out a lot of my area in 2020 and I was asleep without a car at my boyfriends apartment while he was working 2 hours away when it was getting evacuated and I have no idea. Had to leave on foot with a backpack with his important stuff and had to get into a medical transport vehicle in stop and go traffic to get out. Wish I'd had an app like it when it hit for an alert or something because I woke up to a phone call from a friend asking it I was out and I had no idea- and it was too late to call anyone to get me since the roads were all blocked. So scary. I just had to start walking down the street and no one would let me ride with them because of covid. The woman that picked me up needed help with a patient in the van she was driving so we helped eachother but it was so traumatizing.

I live close to the fire in Arcadia but I have two jobs in Pasadena one of them is a hotel. I worked a 9 hour shift the night the fires broke out and did not get any sort of break. It was horrifying everyone rushing with their pets and crying they lost everything :( it's been such an exhausting and draining month for the community

in norcal, we get warnings every year before fire season to update our go-bags and have everything ready for when it happens because sadly it isn’t a if it’s a when :( i super recommend just having a bag of extra medication, clothes, shelf stable food etc just incase!
