Important Patreon Update! Moving from Weekly to Monthly (Patreon)

tl;dr: Patreon is retiring my old weekly/per-creation billing system, so this page will move to monthly billing after the week of September 21. Updates/Rewards will continue to arrive every Friday, current patrons do not need to change tiers, and the standard prices will convert from $1/$3/$5/$7/$10 per week to $4/$12/$20/$28/$40 per month. Months with five Fridays will include the extra reward at no additional charge!

Howdy, everyone!

Patreon is retiring their old per-creation billing system, which is the one I've been using here for 10+ years. My setup is technically per creation, but I always used it as a weekly membership: I post one paid reward every Friday, and those Friday posts determine your bill for the month.

Patreon is now requiring legacy creaotrs like myself to move to their newer (and tbf less complicated) monthly subscription billing system. My account is scheduled to make that change around September 21, 2026.

The important part first:

My reward schedule is NOT changing. I will still release a new reward/update every Friday, like I always did. The change is just how Patreon charges for the rewards. I've chosen a 4X multiplier, based on months usually having 4 Fridays. That means the existing tiers will be updated to:

$1/week → $4/month$3/week → $12/month $5/week → $20/month $7/week → $28/month$10/week → $40/month

Some months have 5 Fridays. When that happens the 5th Friday reward will be a bonus with no additional charge. So instead of Patreon counting each Friday separately and adding those charges together at the end of the month, there will now be one fixed monthly membership price.

Existing patrons do not need do anything!

If you're already supporting me, you do NOT need to select a new tier or change anything. I made sure with patreon support there won't be any hiccups in the change. After the migration I'll keep the current memberships as Legacy tiers for existing patrons, so nobody needs to move to a different tier because of this change.

What happens to the Friday rewards?

Nothing changes. I'll continue releasing the same updates every Friday like I always done.

My final reward using Patreon's old per-creation charging system will be September 18.

Patreon will migrate the page during the following week. After that, Friday rewards will continue normally, but they will simply be included in your monthly membership rather than creating an individual charge each week. I made absolutely sure with Patreon support there's no risk of anyone being double charged or stuff like that.

I'm also using the opportunity to make reward delivery a little easier to navigate, using dropbox folders rather than a bunch of links, I'll explain that separately once the new system is in place!

I'll update this post if Patreon gives me any additional information that is relevant to the transition.

I'll send another short reminder closer to the migration date and let everyone know when Patreon confirms that the switch is complete.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my work, (and especially to everyone who's been putting up with my weird weekly Patreon billing system :P) for all these years!
