Hey Tim. Great reaction! I really loved this format of going through and listening to a bunch of pieces at once. As one of the resident Swarm assimilators, here are some answers to your questions on NEVER. To answer your question about the vocals, both voices are AI. They actually use the same voice, but both have been tweaked by their creator Vedal. You also were correct that there was a lot of human involvement. While Neuro and Evil did help write the lyrics, pretty much everything else was done by humans. There was also a lot of tweaking done to the vocals by a vocaloid artist named pb. She helps a lot with the twins singing. If you want to know more about the creation process of NEVER, one of the people who worked on it, Monii, talked about it on a stream: https://youtu.be/Av_ymVRujtk?si=uq1SSxG-_bFKOfjY If you want to learn more about Neuro and Evil, this has kind of become the “go to” video: https://youtu.be/wZ0osmPlSaY?si=unOvwPrKwJmUpU-5 Sorry for the giant block of text, but I hope this helps

Thank you for reacting to Mint! I'm relatively new to your community. I joined with your reaction to Mousey's "Music Box of Fate" since I'm also a part of the precious famoly and I just wanna tell you that I absolutely love your openess to all genres, your kindness, your appreciation for your community, your love for music in general and of course your expertise. You are an amazing person, never change! Also I hope you enjoyed the silly ghost girls singing again! Have a nice week yall and much love <3

It's so cute that you play video games with your dad. I had a funny moment a year or two ago where my mom asked me out of the blue how to play Death Stranding, because she had just bought it along with a playstation on a whim. As far as I know, my mom had not played a video game in her life except for bingo on her phone, and she wanted the first game she played to be a CRAZY horror-adjacent Kojima game, specifically because Norman Reedus is in it 😂 I don't think she ever started up Death Stranding, but she did try out some other games after that. Side Note: that Kate Bush song you played is in Handmaid's Tale at a VERY dramatic and emotional scene and boy it brought back some memories. I still need to watch the final season.

Since you had asked about AI - I'm generally not a fan of AI for generative purposes. I am not going to like, ragequit the Patreon if you do AI reactions or anything, but I just find it very gross, this push to replace large portions of human creativity with automation. I think some of the OG Vocaloid technology is very different from the AI that we have today, because as I understand it they are carefully trained and modeled to create specific voices that have been designed/ideated by humans, and I believe the source voices used are used with consent (a BIG problem with AI as people use it today). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe vocaloid SONGS are also typically created by humans and it's just the voice that is generated? Today, you can have an AI listen to 5 minutes of a person talking and it can replicate the way they sound (with some obvious artifacts, it's not perfect... yet) and that is, frankly, horrifying. And that's without even touching on the environmental or economic impact, or the way artists' rights are abused for training models. Also I've worked as a software engineer for something like 13, 14 years at this point and AI is becoming a huge problem for the industry and also for me at a personal level. I could probably rant about this at length, but I WON'T 😉. Just explaining that in general my view of generative AI is very poor and I really don't want to support its adoption by creatives.

I LOVE "Legends Never Die!". I'd had that song on repeat for weeks!

I’m also not big on generative AI, but that’s one of the things that I love about Neuro and Evil. They were created as a passion project, and all of their training data was ethically sourced with consent (they were trained off of Twitch chat). Their vocals are also adjusted by a vocaloid artist, and it just makes them sound so much better than they would otherwise.

This is great to know, thanks for telling me. :)

Sinon Sinfonia is actually a K-Pop trainee and was trying to become a K-Pop star and became a vtuber instead

Hey Tim, I really liked this new chat storm format and these songs were all so good! The Vtuber world of music is still so wild to me and I am being introduced to it thanks to your reactions. Since you asked for feedback on AI, I wouldn’t mind if you reacted to some AI songs for the purpose of education not necessarily to celebrate the AI. I am curious to understand how AI works for music and in turn see if it can be distinguished from human creativity. What is stopping an artist from claiming their songs as theirs but really it is AI generated? Is it obvious when it is AI? These are all questions I wonder and my ear is not trained like yours. To my first listen I wouldn’t be able to tell if it is AI. I mean I can’t even tell when something is pitch corrected. So I would like to just learn more about the subject if you would be willing to educate us.

It’s easy to see why Stellar Stella got so popular in Japan with how good the vocals, the lyrics and instrumentals are.
