Really appreciated your breakdown of Side Effects by Stray Kids. This isn’t a “pretty” vocal track, and I think that’s the whole point. The strained, almost chaotic delivery actually mirrors the song’s theme of inner conflict and pressure, which makes the performance feel more authentic than technically polished. If you want to get to know Han what I would recommand is to do his Lee Mujin Serive episode since those have been requested alot and it would give you love vocals and some small Interview bits. Other then that we also have Truman (his duo with Felix) and Hold my Han (solo) in the recs!

Wait a minute! I thought that was the actual music video, I did watch the silly dance practice at the end, though! The first thing I watched, wasn’t the music video that just included dancing? Now I’m super confused lol! Hahaha

No the first thing you watched was the dance performance video😂 Anne has the actuall music video in her comment. The dance practice was just a silly little thing they did for stay thats why they where so unserious😂

Han has some really good solo songs, I personally really like Volcano and Got It, but maybe stray kids twilight could give some insights as well, I believe Han wrote the song :)

Side effects is one of my favorite songs. There is a "SKZ2020" version that doesn't include Woojin, released with a lot of other songs that they re-released with 8 members. I don't think I ever had an uncomfortable phase with this song; it's very much my jam. I didn't even hear Side Effects on its own the first time. I heard their Kingdom performance which was a mashup of Side Effects and Gods Menu but I didn't know Side Effects. I just heard the intensity of it, and this almost discordant sound, and I was immediately hooked (and visually that performance is perfect, chefs kiss, so beautiful). I can't help but yell along with the AAAHH when I listen. Same with the yell in Get Lit 😂 Alas, I can't roll my Rs so I can't do the rrrrrrraah. Thanks for doing this one! I feel like its quintessential Stray Kids. It's one of the earliest and most powerful examples of them doing what felt right as artists, even if it was weird and even if some people hated it. I'm so glad they found each other.

This song slaps! One of my favourite SKZ songs for sure. It's from early in their career, before they were this famous. I think it's about the pressure of growing up and life in general; the side-effects listed by the voice in the background of the chorus are negative "side-effects" one can get from life. Or at least that's my interpretation. I love how the vibe of the track matches the lyrics. Btw, I have friends who are STAY but don't like this song; they find it a bit too intense. So yes, those fans exist!

I can't wait for your Han deep dive 🩷 you can watch the Lee Mujin service to have an idea of the variety in his range. As for his own songs, hold my hand is his solo from the HOP album (which contains solos from everyone), it has a music video. But he has actually a lot of solo works that are worth listening to even without visuals. He is the most lyrical out of everyone, his lyrics are deep and intricate and beautiful, you should keep this in mind when you react to his solo songs. Volcano has some incredible lyrics, a wonderful song. But all hanpop is just wonderful.

I feel like most Stays are either new to Skz so donnt know this one yet or love side effects. The polarising part is in my opinion more between kpop fandom spaces and Stays bec they dont enjoy the song... but we as Stays are just like that we love this kind of music. I think you can compare side effects a little bit to sticker by NCT just like lower the intensity to 10% sticker really divided music fans into nctizens(NCT fans) and "normal" kpop fans and thats still the case! I think sticker is arguably THE best example of splitting the fandoms opinion. Also back then for sure there were Stays that didn't enjoy it but today.... pretty sure we all love it! Ceremony would be an example where i feel like thats more the case

Both written by han the volcano performance is not the full song so I think you should check that out as well.
