I have not and won't watch this film but to answer your question at the end. Emma Stone's breakthrough came in 2010 when she got cast in Easy A. She then gained wider recognition as Gwen Stacy and became a fully acclaimed actress (not movie star) in movies like Birdman and La La Land.

I can't watch teen-movies, especially when they're set in the 90s/00s and features high-school. It's something about them that makes me uncomfortable. I'm a big comic-book fan but I have a hard time watching Raimi's first Spider-Man movie for the same reasons. Romantic, buddy or comedy, I just can't. Especially when the characters are supposed to be socially awkward.

I didn't care for it when I saw it, but I was older than the target audience. For me, I don't really care what age the characters are, as long as they feel like real people. I just can't enjoy a film where every character is a caricature.

Fair enough I really like it, I wish they would still make movies like this and Tropic Thunder but them days are gone 😢

So you must hate Tropic Thunder? Or does that work cause they are making fun of caricatures?

This may sound a bit douchey and aristocratic but I mostly like my movies to have authorship, social commentary and a complex story with complex characters. I like when the movie is trying to tell someting. I don't get the feel that Super Bad is that type of movie. There's a reason I adore The Dark Knight, Blade Runner 2049, The Batman and Blood Diamond so much. They all have that in common. Or if it's not trying to do those things, I'd like fantastic visuals, fantastic music like Aquaman, or for it to be damn entertaining like Fast and Furious. Of course I've done exceptions (Strays from 2023 for instance) but a high school, teen/buddy/comedy-movie isn't something that I want to spend almost 2 hours on.
