Incredible film, IMO the sequel is better.

I have the same feelings towards this as I have towards Top Gun. Both films gained a cult following over the years but I don't particularly like either of them but they got followed up by two critically acclaimed sequel, both which I like. It was a while ago since I watched this one (and I don't even remember which cut) but I felt it was boring, weird and lacked the narrative I loved about Blade Runner 2049. It may be that I watched them in the wrong order and kind off had different expectations but still. Blade Runner 2049 (directed by Denis Villeneuve who did the Dune-trilogy) is imo one of the best films ever made but the whole Blade Runner-universe is very niche and requires a certain type of taste and attention spans to fully appreciate and understand the full story and it's themes and characters. Both movies are very slow and prolonges many scenes to set tone and show of it's visuals. Blade Runner 2049 is visually stunning (it's on a whole other level), and the story unfolding, and character development is excellent but they drag on very long. If I've worked, I'll struggle to stay awake when watching them. It can go minutes where we just see a character walking with no dialogue and it can go 30 seconds between two sentences in a conversation. Other than that, there's two short films that fills in on some events between the two movies and an anime-series aswell. There's also an upcoming television series called Blade Runner 2099, scheduled for release sometime this year.
