I mean Sokka grew up with Katara. He had probably got quite used to her powers and didn't view them as extraordinary. Remember, the whole point of going to the north pole is for Aang and Katara to learn waterbending, at this time Katara isn't very skilled and her abilities are very basic. Flopsie is actually a goat gorilla. Well, I don't know what you feel about Zuko right now but I have a feeling that you'll love another member of his family that you'll get to know eventually. There will be a lot of ups and downs with each character in this show. Also, we've already heard Aang express that he didn't want to be the Avatar. At the end of episode two after Sokka and Katara rescues him from Zuko, Katara asks why he never told them he was the Avatar and he says that he never wanted to be the Avatar. You'll eventually get to some backstory surrounding him. It almost frustrates me a bit that you don't do like four episodes like Rebels or Clone Wars since I only want you to get into further episodes but I get if you have a schedule. The next episode is a lore-episode and a two parter. If you can, I recommend you to watch all two-part episodes in one sitting. Also FYI, the series finale is a four-parter. I wouldn't say that the show gets darker in the same way as Clone Wars, but it gets a bit more mature and not as juvenile in terms of humour. We still see them (especially Sokka) be quite silly at times but we don't see like the booger-joke from ep1 or Aang in disguise as an old man. There are some character changes later on if that's what you're wondering. The Legend Of Korra is a spin-off series and the new animated movie (Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender) takes place roughly thirteen years after finale of this series. I wouldn't recommend you seeing anything from it (not even a poster) since it would spoil a bit of this series. There's also a new spin-off series releasing in October that takes place about 300 years after The Last Airbender and around 225 years after Korra. I wouldn't recommend you checking out the trailers for that either since Korra is heavily referenced there.

1-5 You might wanna make a poll about when you should watch the live action movie. I would say after S1 or after the whole show. It only covers S1, no spoilers for the rest Do not. Pronounce Sokka’s name. Like that. Like Ahsoka without the Ah. It’s pronounced like sock. You don’t know why you shouldn’t, but you will Not the cabbages! Yeah in retrospect it’s a pretty easy twist/reveal Flopsie is a goat gorilla. I just found that out because you asked. I never bothered to check before 😅 Aang’s been facing firebenders, he hasn’t faced earthbenders yet Crazy that Bumi is legitimately 112 years old Oh wow, this episode just casually revealed the Fire Lord’s name. Ozai 1-6 Let’s just say the Fire nation used to be more chill, Aang even said he had fire nation friends before, but then the leadership decided to be conquering fascists. The war’s been going on for 100 years, so there’s definitey soldiers that have been indoctrinated from a young age, and there are definitely people who were just like that already Nah that old man must’ve been a plant to weed out earthbenders. Why the hell would he have been at the mine??? Do something with someone’s breathing as an airbender? Interesting idea. Maybe like a tornado, a vortex, sucking away the surrounding air. Though I’m not sure Aang would be one to suffocate someone Not to spoil anything but it’s fitting that Dave Filoni directed this episode Katara DOES kinda have Lisa Simpson vibes! Oh I’m excited for you to get to…well a lot of episodes. But even just in S1

Lol now I’m scared about pronouncing his name wrong

Abby Jane

Thank you! It should drop on a Friday morning on Patreon and on Saturdays on YouTube, obviously on Patreon were a bit ahead :)

😂 I should say it’s less “Don’t mispronounce it or we’ll get on your case” and more “Please don’t mispronounce it, it brings back bad memories”

might be a bit late to comment on this particular episode, but i'm just getting the chance to catch it. i'm an older guy and a big fan of star trek, which is why the voice of the warden of this prison is so familiar to me. his name is george takei and he's a japanese american actor who was a main character in the original star trek series back in the 1960s. after the attack at pearl harbor, the US federal government decided all japanese americans were a security threat to the nation and setup "internment camps" where japanese americans had their property/businesses stripped of them and were forced into mass population camps. george takai grew up in one of those camps with his family during the war and used his experience as a prisoner as a kid when choosing how to portray the warden. his story is incredible, if you feel like digging any deeper.
