TO CATCH A THIEF (1955) - Full Watch Along

To Catch a Thief is a 1955 American romantic thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, from a screenplay by John Michael Hayes based on the 1952 novel of the same name by David Dodge. The film stars Cary Grant as a retired cat burglar who has to save his reformed reputation by catching an impostor preying on wealthy tourists (including an oil-rich widow and her daughter played by Grace Kelly) on the French Riviera.

Hello Coby – I really enjoyed your watch-along to ‘To Catch a Thief’ -thanks! To answer a couple of your questions and a thought: Yes, it was Hitchcock in the back of the bus. The actress who played the mother was in many, many movies – you have probably seen her before. I do think the film tries to make you think Grace Kelly is the Cat – the only prominent character beyond the guy who is trying to prove himself innocent. You mentioned it was different than/not as good as North by Northwest – I agree – I do think it is similar to Rear Window (outside of the same the leading lady). Thanks again. Have a great day! Chris.

A delight to watch both the movie and to see your reaction. Jesse Royce Landis played the mother, she was also in North by Northwest. I just love her, so much fun as an actress. This movie is another in my "infinitely rewatchable list" This movie, Rear Window, and High Society I can watch over and over again. Oh yeah, they do have something in common :D
