So glad you did this one. I read Mutiny On The Bounty in school. It’s been years since I’ve seen this movie. I can’t see Anthony Hopkins coming unhinged in a scene without thinking he’s going to go all Hannibal Lecter on everyone. 😆 Mel Gibson was great here. Have you ever seen a film he did around this time called The Year of Living Dangerously? I would highly recommend that one.

Peter Verdi

I am not sure if I prefer this version or the one with Clark Gable and Charles Laughton. Never had much love for the Marlon Brando version, though.

Oh, by the way, if you want to see more on the subject of early 19th century seafaring and a dead-pan accurate depiction of the period, I highly recommend Peter Weir‘s "Master and Commander - The Far Side Of The World" with Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany. Amazing movie.

I don't know if you do any screenplays but if you think this was a story of survival you should look into The Endurance and Shackleton's expedition to the South Pole. Maybe you should get something going on a movie about that. I think there have only been docos so far.

Peter Verdi

There is a great TV miniseries about the Shackleton expedition starring Kenneth Branagh as Ernest Shackleton. Haven’t seen it for quite a while, but I remember rather enjoying it.
