CROCODILE DUNDEE (1986) - MOVIE REACTION - First Time Watching

Crocodile Dundee is a 1986 action comedy film set in the Australian Outback and in New York City. It stars Paul Hogan as the weathered Mick Dundee and American actress Linda Kozlowski as reporter Sue Charlton. Inspired by the true-life exploits of Rod Ansell, the film was made on a budget of under $10 million as a deliberate attempt to make a commercial Australian film that would appeal to a mainstream American audience, but proved to be a worldwide phenomenon. Hey Coby, I’ll resist the urge to say G’day…oopps! 🤣. I’ve always wanted to see Sydney Harbor and the Opera House. It looks beautiful in pictures. As far as Crocodile Dundee goes; I liked the movie, but the sequel doesn’t hold up, but it’s been so long since I’d seen either of them. BTW, an Australian themed restaurant opened in my hometown last summer, I have no idea if it’s even close to authentic. The menu items just seem to be your basic fast food staples, burgers, fries; etc; The only thing I seen that was Australian was shrimp on the Barby. Is that a real thing? Or just clueless American marketing? This was fun, what’s next?

I’m thrilled to have heard a little of your Australian accent. Also great that there were actual Australian references that you related to. Perhaps sometime you can do more with an Australian accent. It is quite amazing that after only 10 years that you can speak like someone who’s been in the U.S. their entire life. It’s always fun to see you get so excited when you hear famous quotes in a movie for the first time. It’s like you finally found a long lost friend. There weren’t too many famous actors in this one, but this made Paul Hogan. He became part of pop culture because of this movie. He even helped launch an automobile model. For a long time, he was who most Americans thought of when we thought about Australians. Thank you for doing these movie reactions!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the it. It was fun watching you light up reacting to it lol. Saw your interview you posted the other day so got to hear a little more of your accent. Definitely check out the Crocodile Dundee II! I'm a little bit older than you, I was around 7 or so when the first one came out. These were my favorite growing up. It was a 1st exposure to Australia, this is before internet and Steve Irwin. Like others have mentioned, Quigley Down Under is good too. Looking forward to the second one and also your upcoming Band of Brothers reaction you mentioned in the podcast interview and your Road Trip documentary sounds interesting too. I did have a question for you, it's unrelated to Dundee but whatever happened to the 3rd Christopher Nolan batman movie? Are you still planning on wrapping that series up?

This film and the second one are good; however, avoid the "sequel." There is "Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home," in which Danny McBride plays Dundee's idiot son. As far as I can determine, Paul Hogan originated the phrase "we'll put another shrimp on the barbie for you" when he did a popular series of tourism commercials.

Hey Coby! Totally one of the best reactions ever! Loved it! Ok, Australia questions abound… 1) Did you know of Paul Hogan before you saw this? Was he big in Australia when you grew up? 2) Are you arachnophobic? Your weekly vids show massive spiders around the house, in Australia! Do you get rid of them yourself?☺️ 3) Australia always looks so nice but so hot! And LA is like 30oC! But you must be very used to the heat on so many levels. At what temperature does it start getting too much, even for you? Thanks! Take it easy, Chris, London UK.

Dave Beth

You should definitely do the second one too.

No one ever sees coming that this is actually a rom-com.
