Man of Steel is a 2013 superhero film based on the DC character Superman. Directed by Zack Snyder and written by David S. Goyer, who developed the story with producer Christopher Nolan, it is the first film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and a reboot of the Superman film series, depicting the character's origin story. The film stars Henry Cavill as Superman, alongside Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Russell Crowe. In the film, Clark Kent learns that he is a superpowered alien from the planet Krypton and assumes the role of mankind's protector as Superman, making the choice to face General Zod and stop him from destroying humanity.

Awesome Coby, can't wait! Hope your doing good on your movie!

It has certainly been a super September..and looking forward to some scary shenanigans during October...

Interested to see which Superman comes out as Coby's favorite. Looking to validate my own unconditional love of the '78 Superman as the "best" here. What can I say?

Awesome! We’re in the Cavilverse now. I don’t compare him to the legend Reeve, but Cavill is a legend in his own right across his works and is a great Superman too.

Man of steel is darker that what the batman and superman is a darker than the Christopher Reeve movie

Great reaction! I do recommend you watch the next two (Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice) before watching to the latest Superman.

Hoping even if you have to go back after the new Superman, that you watch Batman V Superman! And Justice League (Snyder cut) to finish off this iteration. Wonder Woman (the first one) it’s a huge part of that as well and it is a fantastic movie IMO.

I like Henry Cavill and think he would be a good Superman, but I do not like the scripts given for him, they try to make Superman dark, Superman in the comics he is not dark. Mr Kent (Costner) would not teach Clark that maybe he should not have saved the kids in the bus. Jonathan sacrifice his life, when Clark could have saved them without showing that he has super powers. Who was Clark pretending to be with the Cape? was he pretending to be Superman??? Clark moving from place to place just like David Banner in The Incredible HULK Tv series. Superman does not kill yet he did in this one. Yes he did not want too, but still did. I did not like Superman and Lois kissing in the middle of the destruction and bodies of those who lost their lives and just making out, not the right place for that hahaha. ok we did not see bodies everywhere. Why did Superman tell Zod that his mother told him to focus, that was dumb. later Zod takes the advise and focuses and get use to his powers. I could say more hahaha, just did not like it, for a Superman movie, effects were great. Coby there was no Fortress of Solitude it was a ship

Alright all my remarks below were about the movie, I did enjoy Coby's reaction to it. lol

So glad you enjoyed MoS! I didn't realize that Christopher Nolan co-wrote it with his wife Emma Thomas, but it makes sense since their company Syncopy produced it, and also why Hans Zimmer did the score. It explains why it's such a bold script departure and much more realistic. I like Adam's Lois much better too! She has agency and is a real partner to Supe. I hope you consider Wonder Woman, Batman vs. Superman and Justice League (Snyder Cut) which make a complete set with MoS. BvS is based on a famous graphic novel written by comic legend Frank Miller.

While Reeve will always be THE Superman... Henry is my next favorite. I have come to "not mind" this movie but I still recognize that it is very flawed. The best way to sum up those flaws is Clark letting his dad die, that was just stupid and needless. The lesson of not being able to save everyone was handled much better in "Superman: The Movie". Sorry... but Amy Adams was terribly miscast Lois and the more times I have watched this movie the less I like her as Lois. As with most "modern" movies this was more "style" over substance. Still, I love Henry, I just wish they wouldn't do him so dirty! He should definitely be the next Bond and if you need proof just check out his Solo character from "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

Love hanz zimmer score, the focus on child clark, and henry cavil plays both a great superman and clark, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, and Fishbourne is great. Sadly think amy adams is a bit miscast (or perhaps some bad writing for her), and the awful pa kent death is memed for a reason! Still really like the movie despite its faults, and great reaction! Costner saying 'You are my son' really gets me teared up EVERY. TIME. Both Ma and Pa killed it.

I've always liked MOS, it had some issues though, I thought Amy Adams was a bad casting choice, she had zero chemistry with Henry Cavill , I also thought the way his adopted dad died was rather goofy, Clark could have saved him without anyone noticing, so it was a bad choice story wise IMO, but the rest of it was really good. Nolan was hired by DC to do the Superman reboot, he started it right after he got done doing Batman Trilogy, so that's why it had such a more serious tone as it was pattern after his Dark Knight trilogy. Nolan helped write the story but before shooting began he was given the opportunity to direct Interstellar and decided to do that instead and handed the Man of Steel off to Zack Snyder to finish. Later in interviews he said he didn't want to get stuck doing superhero movies for the next 10-15 years, that's why he took Interstellar.
