I recommend you watch “Desperately Seeking Susan” 1985 with Madonna, Rosanna Arquette. It’s surreal, neon 80s glamour.

Red Dawn was the first PG-13 movie. The movie had a scene that was cut, because of the San Ysidro McDonald’s mass shooting. The scene has only been shown in the trailer and has never been seen since. Can you guess which two major/popular movies, pushed for the new MPAA rating?

Hey Coby. I hope you’re doing well. I really liked your reaction to this. It’s been awhile since I had seen it. Always great to see Harry. I forgot that both Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey were in this. Every time you called her “baby” made me laugh. 😆 Have you ever seen Next of Kin with Swayze in it? It’s really good. Anyway have a great weekend. Go wolverines!!! Or should I say “nobody puts baby in a corner?” Or maybe even “stay gold pony boy!” Stop me before I reference again. 🤣

Thank you Coby for this reaction. I enjoyed doing the live chat with you and everyone. 🥰

For all the 'haters' of Red Dawn that just want to dismiss it as 'Cold War Propaganda'... Red Dawn refuses to stay in the fantasy “rah-rah” space. The narrative punishes its protagonists heavily. Most die, relationships fracture, and innocence is crushed. That complexity signals that Milius wasn’t just writing a patriotic wish-fulfillment. He was also critiquing the costs of war. Take for example... Col. Bella’s disillusionment -- Not even all the 'bad guys' wanted this war. The playground where Matty and Jed's Dad pushed them on swings, becomes the site they die on.. The fact that the promised “spring” never arrives, meaning rescue never comes. At the end of the day, here is my stance on Red Dawn... It’s not pro-war — it’s "pro-cost.” The film shows how war destroys childhood, families and justice. If someone calls it Reagan propaganda... Let's all remind them that the bodies in the snow don’t serve a propaganda purpose — they serve a WARNING.
