Walken learning to walken? I’m in! This was rad. So Stephen King, so coolly strange, freakishly foretelling and just the right amount of supernatural. Hope you enjoy! 🖤

THE DEAD ZONE (1983) - Full Watch Along

The Dead Zone is a 1983 American science fiction thriller film directed by David Cronenberg. The screenplay, by Jeffrey Boam, is based on the 1979 novel of the same title by Stephen King. The film stars Christopher Walken, Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, Martin Sheen, Anthony Zerbe, and Colleen Dewhurst. Walken plays a schoolteacher, Johnny Smith, who awakens from a coma to find he has psychic powers. The film received positive reviews. The novel also inspired a television series of the same name in the early 2000s, starring Anthony Michael Hall, the pilot episode of which borrowed some ideas and changes used in the 1983 film.

I haven't watched this movie in years, but I did re-read the novel sometime last summer. It'll be interesting to revisit the film to see how it holds up to the book. Plus, you can never go far wrong when Christopher Walken is in the cast... Highly recommend another classic Stephen King adaptation, ... Christine. You'll love the soundtrack and you'll love the car....( You just need to hope that Christine loves you back ).

This is an awesome movie Coby. It reminds me a little bit of The Manchurian Candidate. Christopher Walken has always been one of my favorite actors. A not as well known movie of his that I like is Communion, I think it’s from around 1990, I think. My favorite performance of his is in King Of New York.

Finally a reactor watches this classic!

Another one I have not seen in a long time. good movie. This is a good movie to have conversations about. I have to watch the TV show, which I have been wanted to watch for a long time, but only seen the pilot which I enjoyed. The Dead Zone (2002-2007) lasted 6 season, now I will watch it .

I saw this when it first came out in the 80's but definitely relevant given the times in which we live today!

I've been waiting for someone to react to this. I have this on Blu-ray, as I do most Stephen King movies, and it's one of my favorites. I really enjoyed this reaction, and as always, Coby has the movie figured out from the beginning. Of course, her husband's going to be the killer, too funny. I'm always up for any Stephen King adaptation: The Shawshank Redemption (1994), The Green Mile (1999), Misery (2007), Stand By Me (1986), The Mist (1990), Silver Bullet (1985), The Shining (1980), Creepshow (1982), Gerald's Game (2017), and Salem's Lot (1979) are all among my favorites.

Poor Johnny..loses everything and still saves the world. Too bad we don't have any Johnny Smiths running around in the world today

Yes, that was Tom Skeritt in Harold and Maude.

A fun fact that some people may not notice is that, at the end, when Stillson uses Sarah's baby as a human shield, the photographer taking pictures is played by Martin Sheen's son, Ramon Estevez. Another interesting trivia note is that, before his accient, the last thing Johnny assigns his students to read is "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," and Christopher Walken later played the Headless Horseman in "Sleepy Hollow."

Wow, I never heard of this movie, which is a common theme for me on here, but I thought this was great. I now want to read the novel which I have also not heard of.

I graduated high school in 1983 and I saw that when it first came out and it was better today.

I have always loved this movie, and it was a great reaction, but I always wonder why some people try to predict what is going to happen instead of letting the story take you on the ride. It feels like trying to outsmart the script, or spoil a magic trick. I guess I do the same thing with comedy though, esp if I don't have respect for the comedian or movie - if I can guess a punchline, then it isn't a very good joke. I guess I just hate spoilers so much that I don't want to even potentially spoil it for myself. LOL.
