Well well well I finally sat down to Deliverance, and it was no The River Wild. What an incredible film though! I had no idea what to expect, and I’m so glad I went in blind. I wasn’t sure if we were doing a buddy adventure, a thriller, a horror… and it was kind of everything! Hope you survive the ride! 🖤

Deliverance is a 1972 American thriller film directed and produced by John Boorman from a screenplay by James Dickey, who adapted it from his 1970 novel. It follows four businessmen from Atlanta who venture into the remote northern Georgia wilderness to go whitewater canoeing down the Cahulawassee River before it is dammed, only to find themselves in danger from the area's inhabitants and nature. What a movie this one is.... terrifying, masterful and oh so disturbing... looking forward to watching it with you.

To this day I still have that dueling banjos part with Drew and the kid on a playlist that I listen to very regularly. Amazing (and disturbing!) film!

Coby, Yes Ned Beatty was Otis in Superman and Superman II. Such a great movie, was looking forward to your reaction on this one. It is great, but has such a disturbing scene. I have always felt that Drew had not been shot and they could not take him because of too much weight. Also how could they explain it if he was shot, or justify what they did to as you call him gummyhole. Also the beginning did hint that they were all related

Coby, I'm not surprised that you didn't recognize Ronny Cox. He was the actor that played Drew, the one with the guitar. He looks a bit different here than the roles you've seen him in. , when he had the silver hair. He was in the Beverly Hills Cop films as the police chief, as well as Robocop and Total Recall as the baddie.
