4 new traits for when your Sims fail as parents.

🔽 Download: CurseForge / SFSRequires: Lot 51 Core LibrarySupported Languages: All 🌍Patch Resilience: Highℹ️

This mod aims to deepen the impact of a Sim's childhood by linking child skill development to lasting adult traits. If your Sim struggles to develop the Mental, Motor, Social, and Creativity skills far enough, they will acquire new negative traits that will slow their skill growth as adults.

4 New Traits

BoneheadedBoneheaded Sims build mental skills slower.

Tongue-TiedTongue-Tied Sims build social skills slower.

UnimaginativeUnimaginative Sims build creative skills slower.

UncoordinatedUncoordinated Sims build physical skills slower.

How It Works

For Played Sims: When a played Sim ages from Child to Teen, if they haven't reached level 4 in any of the childhood skills, they’ll acquire that skill's negative trait.

Notifications: Once your Sim reaches level 4 in a childhood skill, you'll receive a notification confirming that the risk of developing the corresponding negative trait has been eliminated.

For Non-Played Sims: When a non-played Sim ages from Child to Teen, there's a small chance they’ll receive a negative trait, influenced by their existing traits.

Balanced Slowness: These negative traits serve as the counterparts to the Mentally Gifted, Socially Gifted, Creatively Gifted, and Physically Gifted reward traits. Sims with the positive traits learn skills 25% faster (at a 1.25× rate). Sims with these negative traits will progress at a slower rate of 0.75×.

I Love this. (Capital L.) I have my degree in Child Development and this serves to validate both my studies and what I worked so hard for with my classrooms of kids, i.e., with attention and individual care, our kids don't become 'unimaginative' 'boneheads'! Thank you. This will make for really rich gameplay. I can't wait!

Haha amazing. I’m glad this mod resonates with you! Hope you enjoy it 😊

Hi, I'm planning to translate this mod into Polish, but I just want to ask if the Polish version in the mod was created by some person or AI? It sounds pretty broken ;/

tyjokr

Yeah, I'm not a Polish speaker. If you have better translations, please feel free to send them and I can add them to the main file. It's a mixture of me, the existing Polish strings in the game, and translation tools.

AuroraSky

Thanks for responding. I will send the translation after I finish 🙂

Thank you!! I added it to the main file and added your name (as well as a link to your Patreon) in the credits of this post and the CurseForge listing.

Loving the idea! But do you know how it will interact with the "Townies Gain Skills" mod by JaneSimsten, please? Specifically interested in a situation when I create a new household myself and load with it once or twice to playtest it a little and set up careers for it and such, but push it to unplayed later. I am setting up a save for myself now, so I create lots of NPCs, but also sometimes take them back to played, then make them unplayed again... Upd. Tbh, I'm already using these mods together anyway >__< There are no direct conflicts for now, from what I see. Just got curious how the 2 mods would interact in a save long-term.

Hello, I understand this may be an overstep, but I have a request. I am disabled, as well as close to several disabled children, and I find the names of these traits rather uncomfortable. Would it be possible to rename the traits to less judgmental names, like Mentally Challenged, Imaginatively Challenged, etc.? Of course I understand that you have no obligation to me and I appreciate this mod regardless. Thank you for your time.

Hi, thank you for your mods! I was wondering if the Uncoordinated one could work the same as "Clumsy"? It'd add so much depth!!
