Think about the edges of your roots (outline of your feet) as they dig into the ground in a circle. Feel this connection through parts of your roots that rarely engage with the ground. Change direction and circle the other way. Try it from different foot positions. Stop if you feel pain.
Notice how your knees move and how your feet and ankles provide slack and stability for your knees. You are one whole body rather than segments. Holistic means entirety, not alternative. Your ankles and knees provide movement for your feet, and your feet and ankles provide stability for your knees. Your body is a joint effort and a coordinative structure. The body is a union, not a capitalist alienated assembly line. However, that assembly line or the butcher's framework is how the West has conditioned us to think about the body—as individual parts. Changing this framework includes how you engage with space and your body.
