Continuing our exploration of improvisation and play-acting, this activity invites you to step into the shoes of an aspiring actor who's just moved to Hollywood, eager to land their breakout role. But like any role-playing game, this requires lots of grinding, but instead of dungeons, it's auditions.

  • Your first audition is as an extra in a historical supernatural comedy, playing an undead warrior (think Army of Darkness). No matter how many times you get hit by arrows, you keep getting up. You're determined to impress and potentially get "discovered." Drawing on your previous physical improv experience, you remember to keep the clamshell closed and keep your head off the ground until the very end. You roll over and face the dirt as you stand back up.

  • Great news—the casting director loved you and has invited you for a callback! In this second audition, the casting director becomes your scene partner, pretending to ride a horse and firing arrows at you. There are other actors there, and you get to see diverse undead performances.

  • Your dedication pays off, and the casting director invites you for yet another audition, this time for a modern action thriller reminiscent of John Wick. Your new role: an immortal assassin.
