Since this will be our first 4th of July after Jan 6, let's talk about how they're the same other than one being successful. Seditionists overthrew the established order and WORSENED slavery, white supremacy, land theft, and Indigenous genocide, making rich white American men even richer. Then we had Jan 6. All the worst parts of US white supremacy started AFTER the "Founders" took over. "Patriotic" Americans and American school children might call them "Founding Fathers," but that's NOT what Indigenous and enslaved African Americans called them. The Declaration did not end slavery, land theft, or genocide but instead launched them in earnest. So how hypocritical is it to be disgusted by Jan 6, only to celebrate July 4?
