If you already feel connected and coordinated, try doing the internal awareness exercise standing and on one leg. Close your eyes, then lift one foot off the ground. Not high or in a yoga pose. Just an inch or two off the ground. Whenever you feel yourself losing balance, set that foot down for a second to find your balance again. Feel your weight on the standing foot and notice that foot making adjustments to keep you from falling. From your feet, notice the rest of your leg. See what it's doing to keep you balanced. See what your lifted leg is doing to keep you balanced. What your arms and torso are doing. What your head is doing. You are balancing in space, a lot of this unconsciously.

Consciously sense how this is happening. Develop that connection. Feel your equilibrium and your alignment. Imagine a string on the back part of the top of your head, pulling you tall.

Be aware of your total self balancing in space. For a structure to stand upright, it must have at least three points of contact on the ground. You standing on one foot is when you're most vulnerable.

Your standing foot is one point of balance. For you to maintain your balance, it means your equilibrium is constantly locating the other two points and counterbalancing to keep you standing on one point. Develop this skill. This is the magic of balancing, whether static or dynamic.

Then, when your standing foot gets tired, switch sides.

Know where everything is. Know where you are. All the while never losing your metronome, your breath. This is you, balancing, moving, existing in time and space. You do this every day. I'm only helping you take notice of it. It's really magical what you're capable of if you think about it.

Think about it.
