Kicks (Patreon)
Content
We're learning kicks before other techniques because the learning curve to learn kicks is longer than that of hand and defensive techniques. You can learn some basic hand and defensive techniques in a one-day seminar, but developing kicks requires more time and practice.
The best time to learn kicks was yesterday. The second best time is today. The worst time is after everything else.
Once you learn to kick, you will have a better understanding of all other striking movements, while learning hand techniques and defense won't translate to kicks.
Under the stress, pace, and profit-motive of capitalism, everything is short-term thinking and instant gratification, but traditional wisdom suggests that we start the longest tasks first.
Start out doing the thing you need the most practice in. It'll build a strong foundation and improve your overall striking and movement skills in the long run.
