We've covered the teep previously, but this movement combines the high hurdle step with the teep.
Alternating Teep March
March into your high hurdle step, and at the top of the step, extend your leg over the imaginary hurdle, extending your hip, knee, and ankle. Imagine the ball of your foot drawing the longest straightest line possible through space, from A (top of the hurdle step) to B (full extension) and back to A.
This is called triple extension, and it's something that you'll do in almost every kick. Make sure not to touch the hurdle as you extend and draw back your leg behind the hurdle. Maintain the same consistent speed from extension to retraction (i.e., put it on cruise control from start to placing the foot down). Then continue the march. Make sure you're balancing on your rear foot and not leaning forward.
The mechanics of the rear kick and the lead kick are identical because the rear leg becomes the lead leg during the kick. Position One is just a stance switch that turns your rear leg into your lead.
Lead Leg Teep March
That means you already know how to do the lead teep march. Rather than alternating Position Ones during the march, keep your rear foot in Position One the whole time and maintain the same stance as you teep. When you get to the end, switch sides.
