The lead hand teep game adds more variability and opportunities to the teep sparring game. Instead of only evading, you can now swipe, catch, and cancel teeps—giving you more movement space to explore.
Keep your rear hand across your chest. This is to develop rear hand position but also to avoid using your rear hand to swipe or catch kicks. (If you get into the habit of using your rear hand to swipe or catch, you leave your chin defenseless.) You're free to swipe in either direction or swipe into a catch. Feint and teep with either leg. Make sure to cup your hand when swiping or catching to avoid injuring your fingers. Also, since we're dealing with live teeps, it's time to invest in a groin protector.
"Canceling," in this instance, means using your foot or shin as a barrier to a teep before it starts. This is not the same as stomping, teeping, or kicking your opponent's knee or leg, which can lead to injury. Instead, it's about placing a barrier and allowing your opponent to run into it. You can also explore swiping or catching teeps with your knee.
The other objective of this game is to maintain The Basics. Don't break gaze, stance, or rear hand position as you move. Since you're constrained to teeps, you're forced to keep it simple.
If you want to give this game even more breadth, rather than sticking to one stance, you can make switching stances another variable.
