(Sorry had to repost to fix a poll setting error!)

Please bare with my but I need to discuss a important situation I have been juggling for the last few months and just can't keep up with so I want to discuss it with all of you to find the best solutions, input, etc. I am terrible at the whole social thing! There is no immediate or major concern I just want to figure things out moving forward to give the best I can!

Due to the changes to how US taxes are handled for those who are very poor, such as myself, I was absolutely destroyed with last years, and the amount I make vs that cost, my workload, rent, medication, vehicle, food, life issues, etc is not enough. Were talking going from like $500 yearly to nearly $3000 difference while making no more than usual, for just the tax issue alone! My life has always had a tight balance but, Ive passed what I can easily work around with this.

Because of that, I have had to take more commissions, balance work here, and work on side projects that can help with income. Which is why my output has been so janky. But you know I keep prices low, content high, etc and the current balance is just not sustainable income and time wise so I need to make some changes that will get my head above water again to keep creating without quality suffering from the sheer amount being asked of me right now.

Now that context is out there, part of the last update was asking how everyone feels about the current state of things. I am happy to keep where we are but, as some of you have pointed out, I definitely overdo it in some ways compared to the average, so I've thought on the input, suggestions, etc and came up with some ideas to feel out hence this poll. So that I can open time but also put the time, money, and effort into stabilizing and improving the art and business in ways that have been a long time coming.

The other sad but necessary changes I am making is my commission prices must be increased, but I will be re-opening for color and larger projects which I haven't taken in quite some time while balancing everything else.

The past plans for starting some products will be also put into action in hope of that little extra perk, plus I think it would just be a lot of fun to make dakis and other stuff for funsies and such for everyone. and I would love to find some more ways to get yall involved with stuff so please feel free to give ideas and feedback.

Other than that I am all ears for suggestions, ideas, solutions, etc as I want to make everyone happy and create the best quality I can, there is just the sad reality in the background that life is demanding a lot that I am struggling to maintain so I want to find the best balance for everyone and just thank you again, truly. This last while has been brutal, financially, emotionally and mentally between life stress, the anti trans issues growing, and everything else. Yall have kept me going and nudging me to give back in any way I can even if all I can provide is my art. Thank you for hearing me out <3

So for the poll itself, For the $1-$1000 workload spread for the patreon content, based on the current foundation, and the situation, what would yall enjoy most? The ideas have been gathered from yall, discussed with various patrons and I am putting it out there. The main distinction to consider is time vs quality to consider. (and the timelapses and such will be unchanged and staying in any scenario ^^)

I did mistype a few things sorry, and don't worry this isnt meant to be set in stone or anything, just want to figure things out with everyone and put the situation out there. Nothing will change this month or anything of that sort ^^

Just Jen

I don't think you should feel guilty about raising commission prices. You have to make sure that you aren't working at a loss to make art. Besides, the prices you've set were based on the past and you continue to grow and improve. The prices should reflect that as well as the reality of what it costs for you to take that commission versus doing something else when bills, taxes and life get factored in. Personally, I enjoy any amount of art you can post here and if you couldn't post much of anything I wouldn't be upset. Not sure that's everyone's take but for the extremely low monthly cost I feel like I'm already getting so much. Aside: Yeah, the growing anti-trans sentiment is a punch in the gut. Keep your head up. It sucks. A lot. But you're doing this for yourself and you have to find the joy in becoming more of who you should be. It's in there, I promise.

Just Jen worded it a lot more eloquently than I was thinking-- but I'm in the same boat. You increase prices to reflect your growing skill, and because your skills as an artist are also improving. I'm also indifferent about quantity and quality of art you put out, because I use patreon primarily as a tip jar (but still really enjoy early releases, and reading your discussions in discord about characters when you bring them up), but you also put out like.. way way more art than a lot of artists I follow closely. I'm pretty used to a lot of artists doing 1-3 pieces a month while working on other private projects or other jobs. I know it's not the most meaningful advice you want to hear when the poll is looking for something more definitive, but it's just not something I can really quantify, and am always just happy to see you put out new art, even rough concepts.

Adeam

You could do fully articulated dolls. And possibly a higher tier with a free commission annually.

I use patreon mostly as a tip jar too, happy to support and see you continue doing art. Did have a suggestion for sketch page voting tie breakers. We could try a tie breaker vote, let you pick, or have a random number generator pick

DokterBeefcake / WarmBlueLasers

I voted for 1 page 3 full renders. But I think you should limit to 2 renders. You get a lot of ties and you seem to like doing all of them. Then you can have a vote on the 2+ renders of the month for which one gets the full treatment. I also think you should consider adjusting your patreon rate. Your minimum tier is $2 which for how much you've been doing is just not fair to you. Typical bottom tier for an artist of your caliber is $5/mo. That might be a sticker shock for many, but I really think you need to evaluate that yourself - by yourself.

Captain Shark-Nose

It's been said a few times already, you raising commission prices is completely reasonable. You have improved as an artist, and that is a more than valid reason. With the current state of inflation and prices increasing for everything, it also makes sense that you would follow that trend. One suggestion, if you'd be open to it, is when you do the sketch pages you could let the voting pick one less. Then the last one would be artist's choice, give you some more decision power. Just my $0.05, best of luck on however you choose to proceed.

Yeah I def dont feel right doing alts and such, im rather against doing big limited or exclusive things in such ways, i want my whole fandom to enjoy my work without feeling like there is a wall ^^ will think on everything though thank you ^^

ZroStop

Definitely raise your commission prices, your art is worth it. Since your time is already taken up by side projects, and commissions I would limit or even auction off commission slots during a streaming session or set that up a bid off via discord where the starting amount of the commission is at a price that will make it worth your limited time, that way supporters can bid on a commission or instead or also, monetize the sketch of the day/month poll maybe 1 dollar 1 vote(so us supporters can put our money where our /vote is)? I love your work and hope some of our suggestions help!

Foosh

I chose other. Feels wrong to tell artists what to do! Do what works best for you.

Self-care is very important. Make sure that you are okay first. I know it is too late for the current filing deadline, but have you considered going to a free tax preparation clinic or getting other help with your taxes to see if you can get them down? I assume that you are taking the Earned Income Credit (EIC) and other normal deductions and credits, but what about the cost of your art supplies, Internet access, etc., associated with your artist "job"? No clue if they are legitimate or not, but they could be. Someone might be able to catch something you missed. And do not forget that you can file an ammended return if it turns out that you can get more back.

David Ellis

Regarding the amount of artwork, I think something once per week would be good.
