At least in the English dub they give him some actual lines. In the Japanese dub all he ever says is "Fro thinks so too.", referring to himself in the 3rd person.

Hi, I feel your pain. Imagine watching this weekly for years, haha. Shipping is a huge part of Fairy Tail, and almost every relevant character gets paired with someone. When romance is such a big focus, it usually gets dragged out to make the eventual payoff hit harder. Believe me when I say there is payoff. Some couples get more than others, but the main ships definitely deliver, and in some cases it is huge. It just takes patience. That Jellal and Erza scene is one of the most infamous teases. It is sweet and adorable, but also leaves you frustrated. The series keeps doing that on purpose because that is the trope with anime ships. The good news is that over time you will get more moments and eventually real payoff. It is not all at once, but it is there if you stick with it.

Girl this is how men are IRL, men overthink things when it comes to love especially when it's someone they really care about and don't want to mess up anything with them, it's actually very realistic, and you know when he told her that he had a fiancé he was talking about her and that's why he said he loved her after you find out it was a lie I mean it's very heavily implied 🥴 I have to say that I'm a huge fan of the way that the writers handled relationships in this anime, I feel like it's so cliché to have the entire cast romantic relationships in full bloom throughout the show and always on display, I think it's really nice to get a little moments every now and then, maybe that's just me though
