I cannot wait for you to watch the arc after this.

Nathan Quimby

Ah here let me explain. The 204-218 arc is regarding the Celestial Spirits and the effects opening the eclipse gate had. Honestly I cannot recommend enough just watching the arc. But that's just my two cents. The arc does admittedly have some crazy fanservice but if you can ignore it the lore is really good. It's hard to explain further without spoilers. But I think it's interesting enough lore to be worthwhile.

levolly

yayyy 3 eps

levolly

are you talking tartarous? thats my favourite arc so gooddd

Saekoa

As far as glow ups go nobody has a better one than Juvia. Girl is just eating up every scene she is in the more time goes on.

Saekoa

The shipping continues to only ramp up more and more from here. Like the writer continues to do these little moments between the pairings. So since you enjoy it I can confirm its not going away

Saekoa

Mavis is SOO adorable.

Gray is a tsundere. He clearly cares for juvia but always pushes her away or acts annoyed. But he will also get annoyed if someone else gives her too much attention. But rather than seeming jealous he will be like "hands off she in MY guild" or if Juvia is about to be injured or hurt he will get really pissed off or defend her/literally die taking a hit for her. He just needs those walls of tsundere ice to melt. And with Juvia being the polar opposite of a tsundere, it makes for some interesting interactions lol. And yeah, that is a good insight. Gray carries a lot of trauma specifically surrounding love/relationship/familial bonds. Lost his parents, lost ur, lost ultear, lost his entire village, brielfy lost his best friend / foster brother to his own madness. So he definitely struggles with these feelings beyond just "being a tsundere."

levolly

Your analysis on Gray is so interesting, I honestly do agree that his attitue towards Juvia is definitely a front. It seems like he doesnt truly understand why Juvia feels this way towards him and is incapable of confronting it head on. These are things thats explored in the future which is another reason you havee to watch episode 220 (and its opening), bc they do delve into it and his trauma from Ur and Ultear both dying for him. Ultear being an old lady i feel has much more of an emotional impact than her dying. You can see easier the time that she gave up in order to save everyone, it gets me emotional every time.

levolly

Gray really does over use the “she’s in MY guild” line, like it’s okay bro we all know you want to say she is yours 😭

Saekoa

Lucy is so pretty in her casual clothes.

Saekoa

The Ultear stuff his so hard. She is so well written.

Saekoa

Zeref and Mavis have a history together. He cant hear or see her but Zeref is sort of one of those beings that is so powerful that he kind of just has hax. Like he can do things because he is Zeref. Mavis is similar. She can persist and do things because she is Mavis.

Favorite Arc in whole series. Excited for Tartaros Arc

Armon abron

Naw that arc was completely unnecessary it definitely had funny moments but it not worth the watch for her

Nathan Quimby

It has some important lore on the Celestial Spirits and eclipse gate.

Armon abron

Yeah it the first arc that for me did feel like there were actual stakes

Nathan Quimby

Now hold on. There's some badass fight scenes as well that you don't ever see again. Hyper magic like Gottfried we never see again, unique dragon slayer modes etc.

Reese esponge

The next cannon arc is the most emotional arc of the whole show

Sam

I seem to recall back when you were reacting to Ultear’s backstory you were unimpressed and had little to no sympathy for Ultear. I was a bit disappointed at the time because that was the first twist of the emotional knife for me. The fact that so much of her suffering was built on misunderstanding. When she saw her mom looking happy and felt like she had been abandoned and replaced by Gray and Lyon she chose to return to her tormentor.

Sam

Then the second tragedy being that Ultear believing she sacrificed her life/time for nothing. We know that one minute made a massive difference but she doesn’t.

Sam

I also think Ultear still doesn’t know. She was able to forgive herself and find peace in spite of not knowing. There’s something bittersweet/both happy and sad about that. Much like Future Lucy waking up in the afterlife. She’s been reunited with her friends and family but the pain and trauma are still there.

Nathan

Gray is 100% dealing with survivors guilt. I've dealt with it myself, and Gray is a decently accurate representation of it.

Louie Marcou

The way Gray treats Juvia definitely is odd. He continually shows a good amount of concern for her well being. Often pairs up with her. Is able to do a unison raid with her which requires a close relationship/deep connection. Actually shows jealously when Lyon tries to date her. Doesn't even let go of her hand after they do the unison raid. He's definitely sending mixed signals to Juvia. He says he rejects her but his actions tell a different story.
