So far, I can only say that I'm fascinated. I found out about the manga maybe a year ago, and only found out they were adapting it a couple of weeks ago, so I'm going in absolutely blind.

Here’s a couple of things I think we’ve learned so far. A pair of supposedly special twins are born, one with blonde hair and one with black hair. We later learn they are brother and sister. The sister who has black hair is locked in a cage. We later learn the “sister” is actually not the real sister and I suspect is probably not human. I think the fake “sister” is a daemon like the left and right statues or the teeth that we saw in this episode.

My theory is that the fake sister was being used to keep the brother - Yuru - from leaving the village. To keep him from wanting to leave the village. Given that the twins were supposedly special at birth this is either to use him or to protect him from other people who want to use him. So the motive for keeping Yuru in the village could either be noble or selfish. Or possibly a mixture of both.

As for Yuru’s sister I think she either ran away or was kidnapped when Yuru was very young. Because his actual sister looks a fair bit different to the fake one. If he was too old when the swap was made he wouldn’t be able to be fooled.
