I will say something about the sword saint which I think was mentioned around arc 3 of lightnovel and not in anime if I recall. Them finding out Reid is the first sword saint is a big deal, the most powerful person alive is always the sword saint currently Reinhard. Reinhard being as strong as he is, is closely monitored by other countries if he were to enter another country it could be perceived as an act of war like someone moving a super weapon into another country. Imagine someone with Reid's personality having that kind of power, pretty scary right?

There was a bit of context missing from season 1 when Julius beat up Subaru and publicly humiliated him. Basically Julius did it to save Subaru’s life. There were a lot of knights pissed off by Subaru that day who wanted him dead. After watching Subaru’s humiliation they ended up thinking he was pathetic and not worth the effort of killing.

What I didn’t know until now was that Julius actually related to Subaru’s sense of inferiority. After all he couldn’t compare to Reinhard no matter how hard he tried.

I’m not sure how much of Shaula’s trauma about Reid is specifically about sexual assault as feeling powerless like she’s his plaything. It’s a subtle difference but as Emilia demonstrated this episode there is a psychological component to the trauma around sexual assault tied to feelings of sexual guilt, shame, embarrassment etc.

If you don’t have any awareness of these feelings then sexual assault can feel like just any other assault.

I remember when I was a kid a grownup was tickling me and I was laughing and saying to stop but they didn’t take me seriously because I was laughing and they thought they were just being playful. I remember that feeling of powerlessness of being a “plaything” of someone bigger and stronger and being helpless to do anything about it.
