Hello everyone!
I’d like to share a quick tip on how I customize your prints. Its challenging to cater to everyone's preferences—some of you have AMS setups while others don't, and some appreciate having models broken into parts for assembly. I always strive to accommodate diverse needs.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of filament waste, as well as try to cut down print times if i can, but I recognise that some print full plates of assets and flushies are a great alternative to minimize waste. For my own customisation, I love using acrylic paint pens, particularly the soft-nibbed ones, as shown in the image above. They’re affordable on Amazon and provide a quick alternative to colored filament, making them perfect for adding small details like eyes.
I completely understand that this method may not suit everyone. Some sellers may prefer to print directly without the extra step of painting due to time constraints, which is why I try to separate the STLs in my print profiles to offer options between filament and paint.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and techniques on customisation techniques! Feel free to share your experiences and any pen recommendations you may have.TIPS:
In regards to my paint pen choice, I prefer soft-nibbed (they feel more like felt tip pens). I found the hard-nibbed ones would dribble paint, and i had less control on where the paint when, causing the paint to bleed.
You can be really gentle with the softer nibbed pens, they feel more like a paintbrush and are far less runny.
To avoid paint running if you choose not to prime. I personally just paint across the top of the print, and avoid painting down the sides. These soft-nibbed pens help control the flow of paint.
With rounded parts like eyes again i don't paint too close to where the eyes meet the face.
Just the top surface will help stop paint running
I'm really hoping to try some more brands and will post links to ones I've liked. If anyone else finds any nice brands, please care to share.
